Premium navigation experience features advanced visual guides and green routing option
CHICAGO /PRNewswire/ — Nokia today announced that its Location & Commerce business is supplying global NAVTEQ® Maps to power the next generation BMW navigation system. Launching on the BMW 7-series, this new system will introduce drivers to innovative new features and content including visual guides such as Enhanced 3D City Models and Motorway Junction Objects; and the BMW’s Eco Pro Route which generates the most fuel efficient route.
Eco Pro Route leverages a range of NAVTEQ® Map content to select routes which reduce fuel consumption by avoiding congestion and steep hills etc. In addition, data such as historical speed patterns, traffic signals, stop signs, driver alerts, bends and slopes is used to highlight key road conditions ahead which could influence driving speed. With advance warning, drivers can minimise the number of stops and starts and generally drive more smoothly at the most fuel efficient speeds.
BMW is using the highly precise NAVTEQ® Map data required for ADAS applications such as power management based on height data and speed profiles and, of course, the Eco Pro Route application. A comprehensive portfolio of premium content is integral to the location ecosystem developed by Nokia Location & Commerce. With the right content, platform and services Nokia Location & Commerce is set to establish itself as the ‘Where Company’, helping many different industry sectors to develop consumer experiences based on smarter data and more choice.
“NAVTEQ® Maps powered the first navigation system on the European market which was introduced by BMW in the early 1990s – and our relationship has continued throughout the extraordinary development and expansion of the location space,” commented Bruno Bourguet, Senior Vice President Sales and Business Development, Nokia Location & Commerce. “Today, our goal is to understand and anticipate driver needs and demands and deliver the right products at the right time. We have the content, platform and services available to support BMW as the company continues to innovate.”
Nokia will be exhibiting at the Mondial de l’Automobile show in Paris at Hall 3, booth #213
Nokia Location & Commerce demonstrates its ‘location’ leadership in the global automotive space via numerous OEM collaborations and comprehensive partner demonstrations at Mondial de l’Automobile. Delivering on the needs of the ever-connected consumer has long been a focus of the in-vehicle industry. The ability of Nokia L&C to serve the expectations of today’s ‘connected driver’ via fluid location-based products and services whether at home, walking in the city or in the car will be on full display and showcased to show how both customers and consumers alike benefit from smarter data and multi-screen, multi-modal choices.

Perfect Sense Digital to Unveil Dari, an Open Source Java Development Framework, at JavaOne 2012

leave a comment »

Dari is an intuitive Java development framework that accomplishes a wide range of peripheral tasks to let developers focus on their application. Crafted over years of large-scale problem solving, Dari brings professional best practices into every developer’s workflow.
Come and meet us at JavaOne 2012, booth #5101.
RESTON, Va. /PRNewswire/ — Next week at JavaOne 2012, Perfect Sense Digital will be unveiling Dari, the open source Java development framework that lets developers focus on their application in the most natural way. Well known for the unique experiences it builds with consumer publishing partners such as Scripps Networks Interactive, IndieWire, SnagFilms, Healthgrades and USA TODAY, Perfect Sense Digital (www.perfectsensedigital.com) is a fast-growing digital products and professional services company based in Reston, Virginia
“One of our core goals with each client is to help remove friction from their every day work,” said David Gang, CEO of Perfect Sense Digital. “To that end, Dari was developed to streamline and automate critical, yet tedious, portions of the development process.”
Every Dari capability has its roots in real-world problems faced by Perfect Sense Digital’s partners. Dari began as an access layer to multiple legacy databases, with built-in best practices for high-performance, low-level access that shield developers from underlying complexity. It evolved into a data-modeling tool that enables developers to query databases as well as to create and modify custom data structures from within the same access layer. Dari provides the ability to incrementally add to, and efficiently alter, a data model by simply modifying the Java classes that define it, without having to worry about database schema or other configurations.
“Dari is unique in that it doesn’t dictate how to approach a problem,” says Hyoo Lim, Chief Architect at Perfect Sense Digital. “Developers can focus on building their application in a completely natural way.”
Next came the need for an editorial interface to create, edit and publish content objects through Dari. The framework was extended to provide an automatic user interface that is dynamically derived from the definitions of the objects themselves. Perfect Sense Digital leveraged this new capability to differentiate its open source Content Management System. Built on top of Dari, Brightspot CMS is automatically and uniquely tailored to the specific content objects it handles.
Dari also includes powerful monitoring and debugging tools that give developers intuitive and granular insight into their data models, their application logic, and how the two interact to deliver the intended experience. Dari and Brightspot CMS feel natural, seamless and unencumbered, as everything is organized and automatically derived from the data models as conceived by the developer.
“We are really proud of what we have achieved with Dari so far,” adds Jeremy Collins, Chief Architect at Perfect Sense Digital. “It has become second nature in our daily work, and we are excited to share its benefits with the Java community.”
Dari and Brightspot CMS currently power 14 highly dynamic sites, some with traffic in excess of 10 million unique visitors, including:
IndieWire, the premier news and information destination for Indie filmmakers, operates a seamless infrastructure that supports a network of more than 20 independent professional blogger sites, each with unique daily content. Dari handles all content across the network in a unified data repository. The multi-site capabilities of Brightspot CMS enable IndieWire’s editorial staff to repurpose articles across sites, and deliver a uniquely aggregated and integrated experience to consumers. http://www.indiewire.com/
SnagFilms is a video portal dedicated to bringing more than 3,000 independent films to a wide audience on a range of devices. Their legacy infrastructure required separate assets for each supported device, creating editorial and data consistency challenges. Dari enabled the team to start modeling their sophisticated data structures right away, with the flexibility to adjust them over the course of the project without migrations. Multiple devices are now supported through simple variations of single assets, thereby greatly improving editorial robustness and ease of use. http://www.snagfilms.com/
BetterMedicine is a comprehensive health site regularly featured on CNN and MSN homepages. “We have been using Dari and Brightspot CMS at HealthGrades for well over a year,” says Bill Bell, Vice President Web Technologies. “Dari takes the guesswork out of mapping your data to Solr/Lucene and MySQL, which greatly helped us build and scale BetterMedicine.com.” http://www.bettermedicine.com/
The editorial team at Travora required a tool to assign and collect tasks to and from a widely distributed team of contributors. Thanks to its perfect mapping to content objects, the tailored workflow in Brightspot CMS delivers a uniquely easy-to-use and familiar editorial experience. http://www.travora.com/
Dari and Brightspot CMS are integrated into heterogeneous consumer publishing eco-systems, including video platforms (Kaltura, Brightcove), social media (KickApps, Gigya), CRMs (Seibel), e-Commerce (Kalio). Dari currently supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle and OData, and can be extended into, and abstract, any other database or data repository.
With Dari and Brightspot CMS, Perfect Sense Digital is uniquely positioned to help your company design, build and deploy your next consumer digital experience. Come and meet us at JavaOne 2012, booth #5101 and see what the excitement is about, and download Dari (http://www.dariframework.org/) to explore its powerful features. Harbour City Presents Yue Min Jun’s First Solo Exhibition in Hong Kong

leave a comment »

Exhibiting the Brand New Sculpture – “The Tao of Laughter”

HONG KONG, Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Harbour City has long supported the arts and has been a pivotal force in bringing several high-profile international artists to Hong Kong. Following the presentation of Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition “Dots Obsession – Soul of Pumpkin” in 2007 and the work of renowned American artist KAWS’ “Passing Through” exhibition in 2010, Harbour City’s third-ever exhibition involves none other than famous Chinese artist Yue Min Jun. Under the watchful curation of AllRightsReserved, Yue Min Jun’s first ever Hong Kong exhibition will provide the local public with access to one of the world’s brightest stars. The majority of Yue Min Jun’s work for “The Tao of Laughter” revolves around five brand new sculptures that will be displayed at the forecourt of Ocean Terminal, Harbour City. Additionally, 12 pieces of Yue Min Jun’s silk screened artwork will also be on display at Gallery by the Harbour. Harbour City wants everybody to get involved and share the laughter and fun!

Yue Min Jun and his new works “The Tao of Laughter” at Harbour City, Hong Kong

Yue Min Jun Art Exhibition at Gallery by the Harbour of Harbour City

Harbour City crossover Master Yue Min Jun limited edition premiums
The name of this exhibition “The Tao of Laughter” was inspired by Lao Zi’s 6th century classical text on Taoism known as Tao Te Ching. Yue Min Jun often incorporates themes of the Tao Te Ching’s “silly man” into his work, in which the book has served as a cornerstone of inspiration for many artists and creatives. When people are faced with society’s problems, many choose to give up or avoid the situation. In order to reach inner peace, Lao Zhuang suggested all problems could be solved with laughter, allowing them to disappear without pain or heartache. In Yue Min Jun’s works, one can see large faces and big mouths with gapping smiles. Through the exaggeration of each character’s expression, he wishes to strengthen the power of each piece in his works. By using smiles as covers, he hopes to hide the sad, bad and even dangerous feelings behind each smile.

Yue Min Jun’s five new sculptures each measuring three meters will utilize his iconic “silly man” theme. Through constant repetition of his signature icons, the ultimate goal is to build a brand new idol. At the Gallery by the Harbour, you will find 12 pieces of silk-screened paintings, each accompanied by a Spanish poet’s poems, that help further promote the hidden message behind his works.

In addition, Harbour City has developed a series of limited edition of crossover premiums with Master Yue Min Jun available for sale at “Gallery by the Harbour”. Premiums include necklace (HK$350), Tee (HK$350), Postcard (HK$60/set, 12 pcs /set) and Mahjong (HK$3,500) and all the proceeds of Postcard will be donated to the charity organization, “Operation Smile”.

About Yue Min Jun:

Yue Min-Jun is a contemporary Chinese avant-garde artist based in Beijing. In the early 1990s, he gave up a stable government job to begin his life as an artist, joining the art community at Yuan Ming Yuan on the outskirts of Beijing. In the midst of China’s turbulent social environment, Yue’s artistic identity takes the form of laughing self-reflection and his contemplation of society. His cynical and realist style of painting has been acclaimed by the international art world. More recently, Yue’s paintings have demonstrated his commitment to cultural heritage and his concern for humanity.

Visitor numbers are seen to surpass that of last year’s show in Beijing, as it benefits from the vibrant business atmosphere that Hong Kong is known for. With a large number of international companies in the fashion and garment business maintaining a regional presence in Hong Kong from which they control their mainland China and Pan-Asia activities, their buyers are expected to troop to Cashmere World in the next few days to view the latest offerings for this luxury material that is highly coveted in fashion circles.

The SABRE Awards, organised by The Holmes Report, represent the world’s largest competition for the public relations industry. The Awards also celebrate PR campaigns that demonstrate the highest levels of creativity, integrity and effectiveness.

Mr Tsang was presented with the SABRE Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement, recognising his accomplishments and contributions to the PR industry over the past two decades. This marks the very first time in the history of the SABRE Awards that such an honour has been conferred on a Chinese individual.

In over 20 years that Mr Tsang has worked in the investor relations/PR industry, the veteran has realised many accomplishments, including the establishment of SPRG in Hong Kong when he was 29 – now one of the largest PR networks in Asia and the

largest public relations consultancy in Hong Kong. Mr Tsang has gone on to receive 12 individual awards for his professionalism and personal achievements in the region. He has also played instrumental roles as a board and committee member of many industrial and public organisations. What is more, he has sought to nurture future generations of PR practitioners, having lectured part-time at the Chinese University of Hong Kong for the past 18 years.

Silver SABRE Awards

The Holmes Report launched the Silver SABRE Awards in the Asia-Pacific region in 2012, having been a fixture of the EMEA and North American SABRE Awards for several years already. In expanding the scope of the awards, The Holmes Report recognised that the quality and wealth of content from the regional public relations industry could no longer be ignored.

The communications programme SPRG created for Hasbro Singapore, specifically, TRANSFORMERS Cybertron Convention 2012 (“TFCC”), was crowned Winner of Experiential: Special Event category of the Silver SABRE Awards for Excellence in Content Creation in 2012.
