Cebu Pacific Takes Off with Rackspace’s Managed Hosting and Services for SharePoint

HONG KONG and MANILA, Philippines/PRNewswire/ — Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE: RAX), the open cloud company, today announced Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ largest national flag carrier, is using Rackspace’s managed hosting for its website and its deployment of SharePoint solutions.
With Rackspace, Cebu Pacific was able to increase its capacity significantly to handle demanding traffic loads on its website (www.cebupacificair.com), which regularly serves 250,000 online customers on a daily basis. Rackspace provisioned an infrastructure designed for passenger spikes, with a goal of accommodating up to 900,000 concurrent users while maintaining a a smooth and uninterrupted online experience. With Rackspace, CEB was able to accommodate 40% more traffic load.

World’s Most Rugged Tablet is Coming to Australia

MELBOURNE, Australia /PRNewswire/ — Getac Technology Corporation has unveiled the technology inside the world’s most compact and robust Android tablet, as the device hits the Australasian market. It will be distributed exclusively by Synnex Australia Pty Ltd in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

The 7-inch Getac Z710 is the only rugged tablet built with a glove-friendly touchscreen — thanks to Getac’s proprietary LumiBond™ technology. This new technology integrates Gorilla® Glass, a capacitive touch sensor and a LED panel, providing unprecedented touch sensitivity, even with gloves on.

The device includes RF pass-through, providing high-speed connectivity to the above communications functions — ideal for in-vehicle use.

Data capture options include HW Barcode and high frequency RFID technology, while Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping is made easy with GPS, E-compass and accelerometer — providing state-of-the-art positional accuracy.
Ms Lee adds that as well as the array of data capture, communication and connectivity capabilities, the device will be the most rugged tablet of its kind; the Z710 is IP65 and MIL-STD-810G rated, and outclasses other rugged tablets by withstanding 6-foot drops and operating in temperatures from -20 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius. This can allow restriction-free usage on all seasons and all geographic in Australia and New Zealand.

Sony Mobile Launches new Xperia(TM) Campaign Showcasing Connected Entertainment Experiences

Integrated marketing campaign highlights One-touch function to share music and images between smartphones and other Sony products
Sony Mobile Communications (“Sony Mobile”) has unveiled the second phase of its “Made of Imagination” marketing campaign, which demonstrates how Xperia smartphones offer consumers the best connected entertainment experiences. The campaign showcases how consumers can instantly ‘unleash’ music or images from their Xperia smartphones with other Sony products using simple One-touch function, enabled by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

The integrated campaign, which will be deployed across TV, print, digital, out-of-home and retail, highlights Sony Mobile’s commitment to innovative use of NFC. The campaign starts in the UK and will roll out in other markets over the coming months. It includes two distinctive TV adverts and the first, which airs for the first time on 7th September, shows how music playing on an Xperia smartphone can be instantly transferred to a speaker with a single touch. The second advert, which airs in early October, explains the simple process of capturing and sharing images by touching smartphones together.
