  • Global shipments of all Connected TV Devices (including Smart TVs, Blu-ray players, Game Consoles and Digital Media Streamers) reached 53 million units in Q3 and are on target to hit 221 million units for the full year, representing growth of 17%.
  • Samsung continues to dominate the global Smart TV market from LG and Sony and it now accounts for 1 in 4 Smart TVs in use worldwide. During the quarter, Philips joined Sony and Sharp in offering Smart TVs with Google’s Android TV platform in a number of its mid to high end ranges. Android TV captured an estimated 8-10% share of the overall Smart TV market during Q3.
  • Within the Game Console market, Sony shipped more than double the number of consoles as Microsoft in the quarter although the Xbox One is expected to close the gap on the PS4 during the final quarter thanks to its appealing 1st and 3rd party bundles.

The award presentation took place at the annual Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) held at the InterContinental Hong Kong, hosted by Horwath HTL and Burba Hotel Network (BHN).

The HICAP Sustainable Hotel Awards launched in 2007 aims at recognising hotel operators and developers in theAsia-Pacific region who demonstrate exemplary sustainable practices that are environmentally and culturally responsible. The judging panel of the Awards consists of veterans from the areas of sustainability, tourism, environmental innovation and hotel design. In their review on Tai O Heritage Hotel, they commented that it was rare to find a hotel acting as such a catalyst for the rejuvenation of its local community and culture.

Receiving the award, Dr. Daryl Ng JP, Director of Hong Kong Heritage Conservation Foundation Limited, said, ‘this accolade is a great encouragement to us and we will continue our efforts in promoting heritage conservation and sustainable tourism at Tai O.’

Quantum Inventions Launches First Fully-integrated Connected GPS Navigation for iOS with Galactio-SG

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — Singapore’s home-grown pioneer in real-time traffic and connected navigation, Quantum Inventions, has brought its award-winning navigation experience to iOS by launching Galactio SG GPS Navigation and Traffic. Available on the Google Play store since February 2014, the android version of Galactio has been well received by users, garnering an average rating of 4.0.

Galactio, the first of its kind app, fully integrates real-time information such as traffic incidents, traffic camera images, parking rates and availability and fuel prices. To provide further convenience, the app also allows offline navigation. “Galactio empowers drivers with a hyper-local experience by integrating innovative features in a simple, convenient and customizable system,” said Mohit Sindhwani, Head of Innovation at Quantum Inventions.

Mohit further added, “We noticed that drivers juggled with multiple applications for their commuting needs. AT Internet Analyses Impact and Affirms Its Analytics Suite’s Total Compliance with EU Legislation, Following Rejection of the Safe Harbor Agreement

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — AT Internet, major player in the field of digital intelligence, responds to the European Court of Justice’s decision to invalidate the Safe Harbor agreement, per the 6 October 2015 ruling that the European Commission’s Decision 2000/520/EC of 26 July 2000 does not respect personal data privacy regulations.

AT Internet affirms that its data privacy policies respect the requirements of the European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection, as data collected and processed via the AT Internet solution is stored exclusively on French soil. Therefore, European companies using AT Internet’s solution are automatically compliant with this directive, as opposed to companies who transmit their data to the United States via other analytics tools.

What is the Safe Harbor agreement?

The Safe Harbor agreement is the result of the European Commission’s Decision of 26 July 2000, conform to the European Parliament and Council Directive 95/46/EC (24 October 1995) and regarding the “adequate protection” provided by US Department of Commerce’s Safe Harbor Privacy Principles. Until now, the Safe Harbor framework permitted the transfer of European Union citizens’ personal data towards the United States, considering that the United States ensured a sufficient level of protection.

What are the major restrictions now imposed on users of digital analytics solutions?

The European directive requires companies using American digital analytics technologies to obtain authorisation from each of their EU-citizen customers whose data will be processed in the United States.
