Senjo Group Invests in Singapore-based Start-up Tjaara

leave a comment »

-Tjaara wants to help SMEs monetize their relationships by offering easy access to Mandarin-speaking manufacturers and factory-direct prices

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — Senjō Group, a global payments operator and FinTech investment firm, announced today its partnership and funding of Tjaara Pte. Ltd, a Singapore-based B2B service. Tjaara, or “Marketplace” in Arabic, uses a group buy concept to aggregate demand from customers to present a large consolidated order to pre-qualified manufacturers.

Tjaara essentially acts as a global purchaser to numerous unaligned wholesalers and businesses in the market, and aids the process on their behalf; Tjaara negotiates, does quality control checks from factory to port and even acts as an escrow service to manage the complicated buying process between Chinese manufacturers and foreign companies.

Tjaara’s customers, or Channel Partners as they are known within the company, are businesses or individuals who want to monetize their relationships with end-users. These end-users are small to medium-sized wholesalers who previously could not obtain the lower prices unlocked by economies-of-scale due to their small order volumes. Current Channel Partners have mostly been unable to communicate in Mandarin, and thus found it challenging to negotiate effectively with Chinese manufacturers.

“Tjaara is a B2B service that offers product search, language translation support, ordering, logistics and finance management,” said Fred Then, Co-Founder of Tjaara. “We realized that a lot of smaller and medium-sized retailers were unable to navigate Mandarin-only manufacturer listings or access factory-direct prices. Tjaara was built to help our end-users unlock a larger variety of products and larger profit margins through economies-of-scale. Unlike typical agents, Tjaara is also able to assist with product evaluation by obtaining samples for end-users; this is possible because of our close relationship with manufacturers.”

Mr. Then went on to explain, “It is known that Chinese wholesale e-commerce platforms like Alibaba offer lower prices for local purchases, and when non-Chinese IP addresses are detected, the price is typically inflated. This is why Tjaara will always get better pricing as all buying is done locally through our China operations. And by consolidating the orders of small wholesalers, we’ll get more bulk discounts.”

The platform is currently invite-only and only vetted Channel Partners can log in to use Tjaara services. Channel Partners can view translated listings or request for a search for products; every Partner is allocated 50 complimentary translation requests per month. A mobile app is also in the works to create an even easier access.

“Tjaara is well-placed as a business to make it through less-than-ideal economic times, for instance when global demands are falling. More than ever, SMEs will need means of cost savings, and wouldn’t it be even better if these don’t impact product quality? It was in this that we saw great potential in Tjaara, and realised that they were aligned with our core business objective of addressing market inefficiencies,” commented Sam Evans, Vice President of Business Development and Head of Ventures, Senjō Group.

Senjō Group is comprised of five business units: Senjō Payments, Senjō Commerce, Senjō Ventures, Senjō Trading, and Senjō Finance; Senjō Ventures has committed US$1.2 million to the start-up, and extended an additional US$20 million in trade finance.

“We are extremely excited by the generous support offered by Senjō, and their faith in us,” said Mr. Then. “The biggest plus of working with an experienced partner like Senjō is definitely their expertise in payment systems and existing global footprint and connections. This will make our lives a lot easier. We are looking forward to scaling to greater heights with their support.”

Tjaara has been secretly researched for almost 2 years and was recently incorporated in August 2016. The soft launch will happen sometime in Q1 2017, and it plans to launch fully in Q3 2017. The business will initially focus on the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and North Africa.

X-Spatial Management and Honorable guests attended X-Spatial Technology Grand Launch today and the lighting ceremony.

“X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” is a revolutionary audio enhancement technology with Wizor technology as its foundation. It generates the best quality of acoustic experience for audience by breaking through the traditional restriction of turning sound into digital data and remedying the shortcomings of audio distortion. The traditional audio system of cinema mainly depends on the configuration of physical location of the speakers to imitate a three-dimensional surround sound field. Since the space between speakers is not seamlessly filled up, it is unable to realize an ideal 360-degree spherical full spectrum surround sound effect, leading to restriction of the “sweet spot”. However, the emergence of “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” solves such problem of the existing technology, allowing audiences to obtain 360-degree superlative audio-visual enjoyment like sitting at the “sweet spot” regardless of their location.

“X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” revolutionary audio performance is mainly carried by three layers of technology, namely Signal Recovery, Psychoacoustics and Augmented Reality (AR). Signal Recovery can be traced back to the field of aerospace science and technology. X-Spatial established a proprietary media transmission database and accurate distortion mathematical formula through numerous research and experiments, filling up missing details of the sound in the course of transmission by recovering three-dimensional sound field from distorted two-dimensional sound source through reverse computations. On the other hand, X-Spatial realizes that sound from different directions have to change the angle when entering the eardrum, while the pattern and shape of the acoustic waves will also be altered accordingly. The brain identifies the direction and location of the sound source exactly through the analysis of these sound waves with different shapes. Therefore, X-Spatial takes advantage of the psychoacoustics to utilize sound waves with various shapes as the carrier of the sound source into the eardrum, forming a three-dimensional sound field and “tricking” the brain to make an interpretation that the audience is hearing a seamless three-dimensional sound field. For Augmented Reality, X-Spatial “excites” certain parts of the human brain which are particularly sensitive to sound through Music Sensitivity and & Perception Enhancement (MSPE) effect, so that listeners can better capture the exquisite emotional expression of the music to have a greater enjoyment of the music.

Mr. Daniel Chiu, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of X-Spatial said, “We are delighted that “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” technology is highly recognized by different experts in the industry, and believe that this cutting-edge technology derived from the research of aerospace science technology will bring the audio technology to a greater realm. I have been researching on Wizor technology since 2004, and up to now, “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” is already a very mature technology, which can be widely applied into the production of hardware devices and video products. Currently, “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” is employed at cinemas and performance venues in Hollywood, Hong Kong and the Mainland, including Dick Clark Screening Room and Charles K. Kao Auditorium at Hong Kong Science Park and so on. Our technology is selected by the “Beyond Skyline”, the Hollywood-based science fiction film featuring special effects, for post-production, indicating that the “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” is recognized by the world’s leading filmmakers. By carrying out the collaboration with Zhuijang Film and Beijing Forbidden City, our distribution in cinemas of the Greater China will be accelerated, and our technology will be further promoted to a greater number of movies for their production, so as to actualize the dual channel development of cinema and movie content production.”

The application of “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” is extensive, not only for audio and video contents, but also for hardware devices. For audio and video content, “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” can be used in original sound recording and sound mixing system in production of movies, TV series, music video and internet video, enhancing the sense of space and level of the sound quality. For hardware devices, “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” is not only applicable to professional hardware equipment like audio system of cinema, concert halls and conference halls, KTV audio systems, radio front-end systems and Internet TV front-end systems and so on, but also directly applicable to consumer electronics. Besides, X-Spatial is also preparing to launch the Bluetooth speakers, portable audio system processors, headphones and speakers under its own brand, so that the public can enjoy the vibrating ultra-realistic acoustic sound at any time.

The distribution of cinemas and content production are the important areas of future development for X-Spatial. Being a playback plug-in, “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” does not alter cinema audio system including Dolby, IMAX, Auro and DTS: X, which means it is compatible with existing audio deployment to optimize the overall sound performance, leading to even more meticulous details and clearer sense of level, as well as highlighting the sense of three-dimension and enhancing the performance of medium-high frequency. The signing of cooperation agreement with Zhuijang Film, FeeFaan Cultural and Beijing Forbidden City is a milestone for the Company to strategically enter the cinema market in the Mainland. The China Film South Cinema Circuit under the Zhuijang Film is one of the top cinema chains, and even the leading cinema chains in Guangdong. As of November 2016, it had 515 cinemas, 2,802 screens, with yearly box office of RMB 2.976 billion in 2015, and stably stayed in the list of leading cinema chains in China. Meanwhile, Beijing Forbidden City is a large professional movie and television production company engaging both in planning, production and marketing, with a total of more than 30 movies and more than a thousand sets of TV series. Its television series won several national awards including Huabiao Awards, the Best Works Awards, Golden Rooster Awards, Hundred Flowers Awards and Golden Eagle Award, while its movies also won various international film awards in Cairo, Moscowand Tokyo. The powerful strength and background of its partners will help “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” to expand its market in the Greater China, achieving continuous expansion of the coverage network.

“Today, the global grand launch of “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” has an iconic meaning! Looking ahead, we will work on cinema distribution and movie content production as the drive to deepen strategic alliance and speed up industry distribution, promoting the implementation of collaboration of cinema and movie production, so that more people will know and enjoy the revolutionary acoustic experience of “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics”. At the same time, we will take consumer electronics as an opportunity to enter the retail industry, promoting offline sales through online business, so that the public can bring home the sound effects of the cinema. We believe that “X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics” will disclose the charm of original sound to the world through its breakthrough performance, and become the new industrial standard of the global audio industry!” concluded Mr. Clarence Wong, Director and General Manager of X-Spatial.

Executives from Johnson Controls and leading industry experts celebrate 20 years of manufacturing excellence in Wuxi

“Over the last 20 years, we have progressively enhanced our manufacturing and engineering capabilities to ensure that we are at the forefront of cutting-edge technological developments in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry,” said Darren Lam, vice president and managing director of Manufacturing and Technology, Johnson Controls Building Technologies & Solutions Asia. “Today’s milestone reflects our commitment to employ our best-in-class engineering and manufacturing capabilities to serve our customers in China, Asia Pacific and the rest of the world.”

Wuxi campus — a “glocalized” advanced engineering and manufacturing base

Established in 1996 with a few dozen employees, the Wuxi campus has since grown extensively into a modern engineering and manufacturing base with approximately 2,000 employees, including 600 R&D engineers. The Wuxi campus forms part of Johnson Controls’ global supply chain and is engaged in manufacturing and engineering activities across Johnson Controls’ comprehensive range of HVAC and control products on a global scale.

Close to 40 percent of Johnson Controls’ global chiller engineers are based in the Asia Engineering Center in Wuxi. Output at the facility represents a quarter (23 percent) of Johnson Controls’ global chiller business and almost half (45 percent) of its global centrifugal chiller business. The Wuxi campus has also successfully filed more than 170 technical patents since 2008.

In addition, the Wuxi campus is the first facility in China to adopt an information system in its manufacturing process that utilizes data analytics to maximize productivity. Additionally, there are exploratory initiatives in place around smart manufacturing to further optimize, transform and revolutionize the factory floors into progressive, smart innovation and manufacturing hubs using manufacturing intelligence and data analytics.

Raising energy efficiency standards in China

Johnson Controls has consistently pushed for improvements to energy efficiency standards and was the first to introduce efficiency standards around Integrated Part Load Value (IPLV) for chillers. The company was also appointed by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) to develop standards for chillers used for industrial and commercial purposes. Its efforts were instrumental in encouraging the widespread adoption of low voltage variable frequency chillers within the industry.

“As an example, close to 40 percent of our customers with YORK branded centrifugal products have opted for a variable frequency chiller, which is more energy efficient than conventional chillers, compared to five percent 10 years ago,” said Wu Song, vice president and managing director of Johnson Controls Building Technologies & Solutions China.

The company has also introduced new market applications, such as the use of heat pump technology to capture and convert waste heat into energy, reducing the use of coal and helping to relieve air pollution in China.

Today, products and technologies developed and manufactured by the Wuxi campus are installed at landmarks across China, including the Beijing National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), Chengdu International Financial Square, and other landmarks around the world. Johnson Controls’ new Asia Pacific headquarters located in Shanghai, which will be ready by June 22, 2017, is also equipped with cutting-edge innovations from the Wuxi campus, enabling it to achieve 44 percent in energy savings, 42 percent in water savings, and 21 percent in materials savings. When completed, the Johnson Controls’ Asia Pacific headquarters will be a showcase for the products and solutions it delivers to customers all over the world. It is also a symbol of the company’s commitment to the fast-growing region. Meanwhile, with plans for additional investments, the Wuxi campus will further cement its position as a leading global manufacturing and engineering hub of Johnson Controls.
