HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam /PRNewswire/ — UBM Asia formally announces the launch of Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 Conference — an international aquaculture conference which will be held in conjunction with VIETSTOCK 2016 Expo & Forum — during a press conference on September 13, 2016 at the Saigon Prince Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 Press Conference

With the theme “Sustainable Aquaculture in Practice”, Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 Conference is hosted by Directorate of Fisheries of Vietnam (DFish), supported by, Vietnam Fisheries Society (VINAFIS), International Collaborating Center for Aquaculture and Fisheries Sustainability (ICAFIS), and the UK-based Aquaculture without Frontiers. Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 is slated on October 20, 2016 at the Conference Hall Level 2 of Saigon Exhibition Convention Center (SECC) where a series of pertinent and timely discussions will be led by top industry individuals such as Mr. Cliff Spencer, chairman of Aquaculture without Frontiers, VINAFIS president Dr. Nguyen Viet Thang and Rogert Gilbert, chairman of International Aquafeed.

Vietnam ranks fourth in global aquaculture production and among the powerhouse in Asia where the region raked 88.91% of the world aquaculture output in 2014. According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the country’s annual aquaculture exports are valued at US$7 billion to US$8 billion. But diseases, lack of technology and other issues have somewhat weakened Vietnam’s competitive edge in the global aquaculture trade. Thus, the broad scope of Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 is expected to address this challenge, says Ms. Rungphech (Rose) Chitanuwat, Business Director of UBM Asia Manager: “If we look at Vietnam’s long coast and good river systems, Vietnam can achieve more in aquaculture if we know how to take advantage of that strength and to do that, we should update our production technologies as well as our knowledge and Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 conference should be able to provide all of that.”

The economic significance of Vietnam’s aquaculture industry plus its merging with VIETSTOCK 2016 Expo & Forum — which will take place on October 19-21, 2016 at SECC — makes Aquaculture Vietnam 2016 Conference truly a worthwhile event. The conference and exhibition are free of charge for all livestock members, for re-registration please visit: http://www.vietstock.org/en-us/Show-Highlight/Aquaculture-Vietnam-2016-Conference

Spearheading SMART Building & Construction through Digital Transformation & Productive Technologies

leave a comment »

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — The sixth edition of BuildTech Asia returns from 18 to 20 October 2016 to further address the needs of an evolving built environment sector in the region. Organised by Sphere Exhibits and hosted by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), BuildTech Asia is held in conjunction with the Singapore Construction Productivity Week (SCPW) 2016.

The SCPW brings together developers, architects, consultants, builders and suppliers to exchange ideas on construction productivity, new productive technologies, best practices and success stories. Themed ‘Transforming the Way We Build through Innovation’, this year’s SCPW will facilitate discussions on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), raising the quality of the workforce and improving integration in the construction value chain, to drive a quantum leap in construction productivity.

“The next phase of advancement in the built environment sector will require changing the way we build. We need to move the built environment sector towards wider adoption of the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) approach, which means moving as much on-site construction works to off-site factory prefabrication as possible. By doing so, we can reduce our reliance on labour through higher degree of automation, minimise the impact on the surrounding neighbourhood, reduce wastage of resources during construction, as well as create more conducive and safer workplaces. The quality of our buildings and infrastructures will also improve as we move towards more prefabrication,” said Dr John Keung, CEO of BCA.

Some 150 exhibiting brands will be showcasing a range of productive technologies, building materials and architectural solutions as well as quality finishes, alongside staple exhibits from construction machinery and equipment at the BuildTech Asia to over 6,000 visitors from Asia and around the world. In addition, eight country pavilions from China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia and South Korea will showcase technologies that address the challenges of building and construction across different vertical industries.

In Singapore, the average construction demand is expected to be sustained between $26 billion and $35 billion in 2017 and 2018, and $26 billion to $37 billion in 2019 and 2020. The integration of technology into buildings has contributed an increase of 3.8% in building function productivity. In view of this, BuildTech Asia 2016 aims to equip builders and architects with new insights on smart building and construction methodology in addition to cost savings from facility design, construction and operations, which are creating sustainability in buildings through increased efficiencies.

Mr Chua Wee Phong, Chairman of Sphere Exhibits Pte Ltd, says “Technology has significantly impacted the built environment sector in Singapore and around the region. Over the years we have strengthened our partnership with BCA to assist companies in this industry to keep abreast of the latest technological developments in productive technologies through the deployment of smart building materials and turnkey solutions. We are very pleased to reintroduce architectural solutions and a showcase of quality finishes this year. To further equip the industry, we are proud to be the first to introduce a segment of Building-IoT as well as a dedicated conference to further to assist industry practitioners to cope in an increasingly complex and interconnected environment whilst developing their expertise.”

Paving the way for Building-IoT for the Region

Asia has the world’s largest building technology market — its projected value is US$1036 billion by 2020 — and opportunities are growing for technology applications in the built environment sector. To facilitate construction demand of smart cities, BuildTech Asia 2016 will showcase a dedicated pavilion showcasing the latest cutting edge technology for building construction, including a holistic exhibition of Internet of Things technology for buildings.

As the focus of governments and industry stakeholders shifts to that of integrating infrastructure in a manner that facilitates Internet of Things (IoT) adoption, the inaugural Building-IoT Asia Conference 2016 will help participants comprehend the role of the construction industry in creating Smart Cities.

Organised by Homdex and Sphere Exhibits in conjunction with BuildTech Asia 2016, the Building IoT Exhibition takes place from 18 – 20 October and will feature a dedicated pavilion consisting of companies showcasing IoT platforms, IoT applications, devices and services; Wired and Wireless communications and network solutions; including 5G and Giga Internet options; Smart home building controls for lighting, facilities, sunshade, telecommunications, energy management, building security and parking; Sensors and components; Smart home appliances; and Smart City options for transport, clean energy, urban planning, disaster management, water and waste management, security and safety.

The B-IoT Asia Conference features international experts, along with speakers from across Asia, who will tackle topical issues such as safety and security, the application of big data and analytics in buildings and discuss the impact of the smart ecosystem on design and building standards. Deliberations as to the changing expectations of sustainability, the rebalancing of objectives to attain operational efficiencies and how to increase the satisfaction and experience of the occupant of a building will also take place. The conference will wrap with an exploratory session of the future of building IoT, touching on real estate information systems and cybersecurity.

The EN 1090 and ISO 3834 certificates were presented by Dr. Chen Weikang, Vice President of Industrial Services, TUV Rheinland Greater China, and received by Mr. Dennis Chi (Executive Director, CNOOD), corporate partners Mr. Tiger Ding and Ms. Fay Li on behalf of CNOOD.

CNOOD has been undertaking pipeline and steel structure projects for overseas customers since 2008. Growing regulatory and welding quality requirements from EU and Middle-East markets led to CNOOD raising its own requirements on the steel structure compliance and welding quality. Finding an authoritative organization with an experienced and highly qualified team on steel structure certification and welding quality assurance to oversee the company’s steel structure compliance, welding quality system development and certification became a top priority. Due to TUV Rheinland’s wealth of experience in steel structure certification and welding quality assurance certification as well as its highly professional team in Greater China, CNOOD eventually settled on TUV Rheinland as its partner for steel structure CE and welding quality assurance certification.

During the certificate presentation ceremony, Mr. Chi on behalf of CNOOD said: “TUV Rheinland’s latest audit at CNOOD as well as its longstanding technical training and support services improved the product quality standards at our factory. It also provided our sales personnel with a broad understanding of quality control that enabled us to offer a more professional solution to our customers. This has been of great help to our long-term business development.” Dr. Chen mentioned “As the leading international third-party inspection and certification organization, we have long worked with CNOOD to bring high-quality products from China to the international market. Together, we support ‘Quality in China’!”

EU construction laws require all steel structure products to be EN 1090 certified before they can be exported to the EU. Many parts of the Middle-East, Africa and even South America also require the EN 1090 certification before manufacturers may undertake steel structure and related projects in their country. As an EU authorized inspection and certification organization, TUV Rheinland provides CNOOD with the solid backing it needs to enter the EU and other regional markets.

Straits Financial Group Obtains Operating License to Set Up Physical Commodity Exchange in Indonesia

leave a comment »

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — CWT Limited (SGX:C14) announced today that its financial services arm Straits Financial Group has obtained regulatory license (the “License”) from the Indonesian Regulators (Bappebti) to operate a Physical Commodity Exchange and a dedicated Clearing House in Indonesia. The Physical Exchange will be branded separately as Asia Commodity Marketplace (“ACM”).

ACM intends to offer an organised market place for local producers and international market participants to transact directly and negotiate anonymously over an electronic platform. This allows market participants to access a larger pool of counterparties to trade physical commodities and settle the transaction through the Clearing House. Market participants can expect cargoes to be delivered through secured bonded warehousing facilities, both inland and along major seaports in Indonesia, operated by reputable warehouse operators including CWT.

Mr Loi Pok Yen, Group CEO of CWT Limited remarks, “A physical exchange is a natural business extension for Straits and further creates synergies for the CWT Group as a whole as it taps on our commodity logistics competency and expertise in operating physical delivery and warehousing for various commodity exchanges.”

“With this License, ACM has the potential to revolutionise traditional practices of physical trading in Indonesia, by connecting buyers directly to the production source; and more importantly, for the transaction to be backed by a central clearing counterparty for risk mitigation,” said Mr Arwadi Setiabudi, CEO for ACM. “ACM plans to roll out a suite of agricultural products in 2017 such as Cocoa, Coffee, Rubber, Soybean and Sugar.”

Mr Jeremy Ang, Global CEO for the Straits Financial Group adds, “ACM has the potential to develop a thriving commodity ecosystem — one that allows commodities to be collateralised for a more competitive and prevalent trade financing industry in Indonesia, through efficient price discovery, trusted quality standards, and credible collateral management. The spillover economic benefits are multifold.”

ADM Capital Celebrates the Commissioning of Cattle Processing Facility in Western Australia

leave a comment »

HONG KONG /PRNewswire/ — Friday, September 9th 2016 marked the official opening of the Colourstone Processing Facility near Broome, Western Australia. The meat processing operation was financed by ADM Capital’s flagship ADM Galleus Fund II Limited and is the only state of the art beef processing facility in the region (capable of processing 37 head per hour — up to 70,000 head per annum on one shift).

Hong Kong based private credit manager, ADM Capital, is a key financier to Western Australia’s Yeeda Pastoral Company generally and particularly for the construction of the Colourstone Processing Facility, which is the final part of the “paddock to plate” strategy for distributing grass-fed, Australian rangeland beef, both home and abroad. Yeeda is a fully integrated beef production, processing and distribution business in Western Australia’s far north Kimberley region, with 80,000 head of cattle and 1.1m hectares of land and capacity to increase its herd to 100,000.

ADM Capital, which has over 18 years’ investment experience in Asia with USD1.2bn of investments under management, said the deal is characteristic of a new breed of agribusinesses that believe in efficiency and sustainability in production as the world deals with an increasing scarcity of land, water and inputs.

“Population increases, urbanisation and disposable income growth are driving a structural change in protein demand, consumption and food chains, with companies like Yeeda likely to offer strong returns,” said Rob Appleby, joint CIO and co-founder of ADM Capital. “The construction of the processing facility will reduce logistics costs and improve production efficiency, given that the nearest processing facility is over 1,800km away.” ADM Capital said the deal could be one among several agribusinesses in the food chain that the Investment Manager is contemplating to finance in Australia.

Chris Botsford, founding partner and joint CIO of ADM Capital, highlighted the increasing demand for good quality beef in emerging markets. “Yeeda’s processing facility will produce halal certified beef that is in demand in various markets of the Middle East and South East Asia,” said Mr. Botsford. “As the largest integrated beef producer in Western Australia, the Company is in a favourable position to capitalise on the opportunity.”

ADM Capital is a patient investor that is ready to put more capital to work in Yeeda if needed, and ultimately expects to be repaid via a combination of strong cash flows and bank refinancing.

Mervyn Key, Director of Corporate Affairs, and Jack Burton, CEO have been delighted with relationship established with ADM Capital. Mr Key noted that “ADM Capital have played a critical role in enabling Yeeda to achieve its potential when other more traditional sources of capital in Australia did not understand the opportunity. Further, with their flexibility, extensive relationships and experience they have contributed much more than just financing and have become an extremely valuable business partner”.

ABOUT ADM Capital:

ADM Capital is a global investment manager with approximately USD1.2bn in assets under management. Founded in 1998 in the aftermath of the Asian Financial Crisis, the firm has over 18 years of emerging market investment experience, resulting in a deep local knowledge and strong proprietary sourcing network. ADM Capital has six offices in Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, Almaty, Moscow and Kiev.

ADM Capital seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation by focusing on fund growth opportunities in companies that have limited alternative sources of capital. ADM Capital also works to rehabilitate operationally strong but financially stressed companies via restructuring, rescheduling, refinancing, liquidity management and other strategies. The firm is currently engaged in a capital raising exercise for the USD200m “ADM Somei Lending Platform,” which will invest in collateralised credit opportunities across emerging and frontier Asia, for which the IFC is a cornerstone investor. ASX to Adopt ISO 20022 for Equity Clearing and Settlement Services

leave a comment »

-ASX partners with SWIFT to align CHESS interface with the ISO20022 global messaging standard

HONG KONG /PRNewswire/ — SWIFT announces that it is working with ASX to implement the ISO 20022 global messaging standard for ASX’s post-trade equities clearing and settlement services.

Using the ISO 20022 messaging standard will help customers reduce their costs of connecting to and operating in the Australian equity market. The standard already supports the ASX ReferencePoint corporate actions notification service.

ISO 20022 has become the de facto messaging standard for securities market infrastructures. ASX joins other major market infrastructures using ISO 20022 for clearing and settlement, including T2S in Europe, SGX in Singapore, JASDEC in Japan and DTCC in the United States of America.

As part of the initial engagement, SWIFT will undertake an analysis of ASX’s existing 500+ proprietary CHESS messages in order to assess compatibility with the global standard. CHESS is ASX’s post-trade system for the equities market. Provision of advice regarding global best practices in ISO 20022 implementation and a future roadmap of subsequent phases are additional services which will be delivered.

Implementation of the messaging standards will be considered in conjunction with the development of the next generation of the CHESS system. ASX is currently consulting with customers and other stakeholders, and will make a decision on the technology it will use to replace CHESS towards the end of 2017.

Philippe Dirckx, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, at SWIFT said: “ASX’s adoption of ISO 20022 for its clearing and settlement system will mark a new milestone for the Australian securities community. ASX will join the domestic fund industry and the New Payments Platform in applying global best practice in messaging standards, helping to cement ISO 20022 as the financial messaging standard of choice in Australia. ASX is a key strategic partner for SWIFT, and we are excited to be supporting their adoption process.”

Timothy Hogben, Group Executive Operations, said: “ASX is making significant investment in technology to deliver greater innovation and reduce costs for our customers in the post-trade environment. Using global standard protocols to streamline and improve the quality of our communications will enable consistent end-to-end business processes. ISO 20022 is widely recognised as the post-trade messaging standard of the future and it is appropriate we adopt this as the standard for the Australian marketplace.”
