SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) today announced the opening of the first international campus of Visa University at its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. The purpose-built facility in Singapore features flexible classroom space, breakout rooms for small-group learning and lounge space for informal networking. It also boasts cutting edge video conferencing technology, which extends the reach of Visa University Singapore across the Asia Pacific region.

While in Singapore for the opening of the campus, Michael Ross, Executive Vice President, Human Resources at Visa said: “Like our network, Visa University is open and dynamic, providing a modern, state-of-the-art learning centre. It offers a digital-at-the-core curriculum that is designed and delivered by Visa, to help employees learn and discuss critical industry developments, so they can drive better business results in their respective roles. Our goal is to foster a perpetual state of learning at Visa, where ideas — new and old — are welcomed and tested, and the culture and environment is both inclusive and open.”

A Natural Fit in Singapore
Singapore serves as Visa’s Asia Pacific headquarters and hub for its business in the region, and Visa University selected Singapore as the home for its first international campus as its digital focus is well-aligned with Singapore’s modern and forward-thinking business environment.

Mr Kelvin Wong, Assistant Managing Director at the Singapore Economic Development Board said: “We are delighted to welcome Visa’s first corporate university outside the US to Singapore. Visa’s new corporate university here bears testament to Singapore’s talent ecosystem, where companies can work alongside industry partners to develop and harness Asia-Ready talent.

“Through this partnership with Singapore, Visa will strengthen the Pan-Asian perspectives of its talent pool and deepen its understanding of the diverse market needs across Asia. This will in turn strengthen Visa’s leadership in developing innovative, tailored products and solutions for the region. ”

The company expects that the Singapore campus will draw employees who will learn and share their experiences with others, helping identify best practices across the organisation. This includes showcasing Singapore’s success in moving toward a cashless society, and allowing employees attending courses to take those cashless experiences and lessons home to their own markets.

The selection of Singapore for the Visa University campus is the second major Visa centre announced in the country this year. In April, Visa announced the launch of the Singapore Innovation Centre, a 7,000 square foot facility in Singapore that has been established as a destination for clients, partners and developers across the region to work alongside Visa experts and jointly create the next generation of commerce applications.

Supporting Digital Transformation
One of the driving principles behind Visa University is the need to provide the information and knowledge Visa employees need to deliver the future of electronic payment to Visa customers and cardholders. The world is experiencing a digital transformation, with new devices and experiences creating a seismic shift in the way people do everything from staying in touch, to how they work, to how they pay. Visa believes investing in its employees’ growth and development essential for the company to maintain its leadership in digital commerce.

Chris Clark, Group Executive, Asia Pacific for Visa said: “The ongoing learning opportunities that the Visa University campus in Singapore will provide will help our team keep their digital and leadership skills up-to-date and razor sharp. This is a key element of our commitment to be an employer of choice. This is particularly important in Asia Pacific, where so many of the digital trends shaping the world emerge.”

BRISBANE, Australia /PRNewswire/ — Citylife International Realty recently unveiled South City Square, a new, strategically located master-planned community which is an excellent opportunity for investment. South City Square is set to become Brisbane’s most-desired residential, retail and lifestyle destination.

Luxury hotel-style living complete with a unique personal concierge service has arrived for the first time in Brisbane, the capital and most populous city in the Australian state of Queensland, and one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Located just two kilometres from the CBD and surrounded by a multitude of transport, education, employment, shopping and dining options, both residents and investors will be spoilt for choice when it comes to luxury lifestyle residences.

Uniquely for an inner city location, this landmark in the making has 5000sq m of open spaces and parks around a large central urban square.

The design and glass facades of the towers create an ideal balance of architecture and nature. Inside, all residences are light and bright, with spacious outdoor living areas.

The apartments will be famous for sweeping views to the CBD.

On completion, residents will also enjoy immediate access to an underground supermarket as well as a health and wellness precinct, an 8-theatre boutique cinema and a 144-room luxury 5-star hotel, as well as cafe’s and restaurants.

Award winning Brisbane developers and builders the Pellicano Group have combined with one of Melbourne’s most progressive and leading residential developers Perri Projects to create something they believe has not been seen in Brisbane before.

Pellicano’s Managing Director Nando Pellicano said, “Residents will feel as though they are living in a luxury hotel, with access to a private concierge service, allowing them to organise dry-cleaning, arrange deliveries, book a yoga class, order shopping and more at the click of a button. The inclusion of luxurious touches such as the rooftop amenity and a rarely seen sky bridge creating a spectacular link between two towers will ensure residents live a life of style and convenience rarely seen in Brisbane before.”

Leading Australian marketing agents Citylife International Realty will preview the new tower, Hillyard House, to private clients before the public launch in mid to late 2017.

Managing Director of Citylife Michael Bentley said, “Brisbane is already a highly rated city for investors — a strong economy, rising population, strong business and cultural links to Asia coupled with low prices and low rental vacancy rates help ensure excellent rental returns all year round. South City Square is a rare opportunity for investors to acquire property of this nature at such affordable prices so close the city centre.”

Brisbane’s population is expected to increase by over 65% over the next two decades and low inflation, high employment, a strong economy and a low Australian dollar make South City Square an ideal opportunity to invest in a blue chip development.

Wacom is Making the Future of Paper Notebooks: The New Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio Smartpads

leave a comment »

Paper notebooks are often the last analog link within an otherwise fully digital life. With two smartpads and a range of new features in Wacom Inkspace, Wacom now offers a smooth and intuitive digital notetaking experience — seamlessly bridging the gap between paper notes and the digital workflow.
BERLIN /PRNewswire/ — At IFA 2016, Wacom introduces the Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio smartpads. Two attractive and functional designs, two different paper sizes, and the new features of the Wacom Inkspace app and cloud services, including vector output and handwriting to text, offer users a range of choices to bring ideas from paper to the cloud and into the digital workflow — at home, at school and at work.

“Paper notebooks still play an essential role at the beginning of the idea process,” said Mike Gay, Senior Vice President for Wacom’s Consumer Business Unit. “They are often the last analog step within an otherwise fully digital lifestyle. So our goal was simple: add the benefits of digital technology to the paper notebook and create an intuitive tool to help make ideas, no matter where and how they start.”

Making the future of paper notebooks

Bamboo Folio and Bamboo Slate seamlessly bridge the gap between paper notes and the digital life with smartphones, cloud services and PCs. The smartpads are based on Wacom’s EMR (Electro Magnetic Resonance) pen technology and make use of WILL™, Wacom’s digital ink. This allows users to start their ideas with a pen on their favorite paper and with a simple push of a button turn their handwritten notes or sketches into digital files and save them in the Wacom Inkspace app.

“The challenge of paper is that it’s final and difficult to share,” explains Mike Gay. “But in Wacom’s Inkspace, those handwritten notes are now living digitally, so users can edit their handwriting to shape their ideas and share them.” The Wacom Inkspace app works on any Bluetooth enabled iOS or Android™ smartphone and tablet and offers all the advantages of working digitally, including easy editing, organizing and sharing. Features like the real time mode, the undo and redo option, as well as the pressure sensitivity make it intuitive and efficient.

When connected to the cloud, Inkspace offers even more benefits with a paid subscription. Users can now export their sketches as vector (.SVG) files, making them available for editing in creative software. The handwriting to text feature now supports rich text, which means bullet points and paragraphs are captured in the text. Inkspace offers a free and a paid subscription model.

#makingthefuture

To showcase the advantages of digital notetaking and to highlight the full potential of ink-based collaboration in the cloud, Wacom invites visitors at the IFA booth and followers on social media to start #makingthefuture and share their ideas about what they think the world should look like in the future. Topics range from the future of communication to new expressions in art. A sketch note artist will combine the input into a cohesive piece of digital art. These ideas will be captured and shared in an upcoming ebook.

Innovative design for individual workflows

Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio are designed to meet individual demands and support different uses ranging from notetaking and light sketching to mind mapping and visual thinking. The extended line-up of smartpads includes three different versions:

Bamboo Slate is a slim smartpad to quickly capture ideas. It comes in a small (A5 / half letter) and large (A4/ letter) format.

Bamboo Folio features an integrated cover with extra slots for business cards and other documents. It is designed to keep notes safe and ideas organized and comes in a large (A4 / letter) format.

Inkspace brings the promise of digital stationery to life

Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio connect to the new Wacom Inkspace app, which keeps all digital notes safely stored. Here they can easily be edited and shared. The app exports notes as JPG, PNG, PDF or WILL™ file formats and makes them available for Bamboo Paper, Inkspace, Dropbox, Evernote and OneNote. The Inkspace app is based on WILL™ universal ink and can be connected to the Inkspace cloud service, which offers subscriptions to a range of features for a tailor-made suite of digital solutions.

The free Inkspace Basic subscription only requires a sign up to the free Wacom ID. It provides safe storage of 5GB in the cloud and allows easy sharing across different devices including smartphones, tablets and computers to access ideas anytime from everywhere. The advanced Inkspace Plus subscription available on the Wacom Marketplace unlocks even more features for a professional workflow. It converts handwriting to rich text, includes vector export in SVG and searches handwritten notes for further editing, quick recall and increased productivity. It offers 50 GB storage, professional sharing in teams and allows real-time collaboration in editable digital ink files. Owners of the Bamboo Folio and Bamboo Slate get a 3-month free subscription to Inkspace Plus after which they gain access to the service at a discount.

National Agricultural Results Performance Improves Significantly for 2016 1H

leave a comment »

-Taking Advantage of the Nationwide Network of Supply and Marketing Cooperative System
-Push Forward the Development of Internet Finance Chain
HONG KONG /PRNewswire/ — National Agricultural Holdings Limited (“National Agricultural”, or together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”; stock code: 1236.hk) today announced the Group’s interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2016. During the period, helped by the generous state support for the development of “agriculture, farmers and rural areas”, the Group consolidated the layout of the internet finance industry chain within the nationwide network of supply and marketing cooperative system by using rural e-commerce and rural financial services as the entry points. The Group’s business development strategy became more targeted and more effective and its revenue recorded RMB77.62 million — representing an increase of 6.1% year-on-year; gross profit increased by 4.7% to RMB53.62 million and showing an upward trend. In addition, financial information services and software terminal operations brought satisfactory revenues to the Group, and loss attributable to owners of the Company was reduced by more than half year-on-year to RMB18.64 million.

Establishing JVs with enterprises under the supply and marketing cooperative system

Expanding the customer base and deepen the influence of Agripay

As the sole overseas-listed platform of the supply and marketing cooperative system under the direct supervision of the State Council, the Group captured the network resources of “agriculture, rural areas and farmers” accumulated over decades and successfully entered into cooperation agreements with several rural capital financed supply and marketing cooperatives at a provincial level, and obtained support from a number of well-established enterprises to use the “Agripay” capital management platform, laying a solid foundation for the rapid development of the Group’s core businesses.

In May 2016, the Group entered into a cooperation agreement with Sichuan Agricultural Means of Production Group Company Limited (“Sichuan Agricultural”) to jointly establish an e-commerce joint venture for the development of an e-trading platform in Sichuan province, which is to integrate supply chain finance into the traditional supply chain of Sichuan Agricultural and its subsidiaries.

After that, in July 2016, the Group entered into a cooperation agreement with Guangdong New Co-Op Skyrise Investment Co., Ltd. under Guangdong Province Supply and Marketing Cooperatives to jointly establish an e-commerce joint venture, which aims to integrate the existing resources of Guangdong Supply and Marketing Cooperatives and to jointly establish a tea trading platform and monitored warehouse meeting international standards.

Planning to establish a clearing center for bulk commodities to improve its internet finance industry chain

In 2016, the government has been advocating the establishment of independent third-party clearing centers which can provide unified settlements for commodity exchanges and factor markets. To actively follow this trend, during the period, the Group signed a letter of intent with Dalian Renewable Energy Exchange Company Limited which has an annual turnover in excess of RMB1 trillion, to establish an independent standard clearing center to provide unified settlement and transaction risk controls for various factor markets and platforms, such as Dalian Renewable Energy Exchange and bulk commodities exchanges, and to promote the development of financial derivatives and value-added online financial services. The Clearing Center is likely to become a professional and comprehensive service platform that can serve various factor markets and also encourage innovative development of relevant financial business. In addition, Agripay has obtained approval to develop wide-ranging cooperation with the Clearing Center in “intensive capital management” and online funding.

Seeking diversified growth strategies in various segments

Developing new sources of profit growth in internet finance sector

The Group has established diversified business strategies in agricultural-related business and internet finance sectors, including integrating resources for finance leasing business sector with the aim of developing China Coop Mengda as a stable resource of income. In addition, the Group has set up a diversified agricultural-related equity fund with key partners, to operate in the primary market and secondary market and to acquire high-quality agricultural-related enterprises and projects in China and abroad, which will boost the balanced profit growth for the Group and improve its overall profitability.

Mr. Chen Lijun, Chairman of National Agricultural said: “The Group has entered into several strategic agreements and participated in several quality cooperation projects based on its overall strategy. The Group will focus on the implementation and economic effectiveness of the agreements and programs, such as online and offline cooperation with the supply and marketing cooperatives in provinces, establishing and jointly managing the Clearing Center through a joint venture with Dalian Exchange and the highly effective operation of diversified finance and investment areas. In so doing, it will enhance the trading volume and user base of its finance platform Agripay. In addition, the Group will improve various comprehensive service functions of Agripay such as capital clearing, trading risks control and value-added financial research to further improve the depth and width of the Group’s participation in rural financial services and e-commerce, so as to share the abundant results of agricultural economic development and create stable long-term return for our shareholders.”

About National Agricultural Holdings Limited

National Agricultural Holdings Limited (1236.HK) is the only overseas listed platform of all the supply and marketing systems in China. It is an integrated company firmly rooted in rural markets. Its principal businesses include rural financial services, trading in agricultural means of production, urbanization planning, operations and management, and high-tech IT. The Group developed “Agripay” cash settlement system with UnionPay Network and Agricultural Bank of China; and a trading platform for agricultural products with Guangzhou Exchange Group and Dalian Renewable Energy Exchange respectively. To cater to the growth of its two flagship financial platforms, the Company — in tandem with the large agricultural groups in provinces in China — has pushed forward the online trading, through e-commerce joint ventures, of resources of the traditional supply chain of supply and marketing cooperatives and large agricultural groups in provinces in China. This year, National Agricultural Holdings Limited intends to continue to push steadily forward its cooperation with large agricultural groups in provinces in China, as it has done by establishing an e-commerce joint venture with Sichuan Agricultural Means of Production Group in May this year, and by establishing an e-commerce joint venture with Guangdong New Co-Op Skyrise Investment Co. under Guangdong Supply and Marketing Cooperative this time. This way, the strategic position will be further strengthened of National Agricultural Holdings Limited in the internet finance industry chain within the rural villages and supply and marketing cooperatives system throughout China

Innovative DHL Multimodal Solutions Leverage Belt and Road to Give Businesses Faster Time to Markets

leave a comment »

– New service launch coincides with DHL “Belt and Road” Delphi Dialog which discusses impact and business prospects of initiative
— New Japan-Germany, Chengdu-Istanbul and Vietnam-China-Europe services make use of Belt and Road infrastructure for cargo delivery in 14-22 days

SHANGHAI /PRNewswire/ — DHL Global Forwarding, the leading international provider of air, sea and road freight services, continues to enhance its services which leverage infrastructure developed as part of “Belt and Road”, the Chinese trade initiative that could influence up to a third of global GDP once completed[1].

Building the Belt and Road with the DHL Multimodal Network
Building the Belt and Road with the DHL Multimodal Network

“Global trade enables greater prosperity and a sustainable future with logistics as its backbone. Nowhere more than in Asia have we seen the tremendous transformation of the economies due to the growing middle class and their rising standards of living which fuels increased consumption and trade,” said Frank Appel, CEO, Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Frank Appel was speaking in conjunction with DHL’s Delphi Dialog forum on the implications of “Belt and Road” for international trade. The forum, with renowned experts from the government, business and academia, is the latest in a series which examines trends and developments that shape our world and the logistics industry.

Making “Belt and Road” accessible for business

China’s investment in Belt and Road infrastructure — more than US$75bn (Euro 67.5bn) in the 18 months to June 2016[2] — bolsters regional cooperation and promotes trade. Since 2010 and in line with the vision for “Belt and Road”, DHL has been developing scheduled connections offering rail services across multiple cities in China, and linking it to road solutions throughout South East Asia and ferry services from North Asian cities in Japan and Taiwan.

From South East Asia and other parts of North Asia, the road and ferry connections feed into China’s rail system which connects into Europe, with final distribution by road across the continent. This intricate connection of rail, road and sea services offers customers an additional logistics route, fostering trade between economic powerhouses of Europe and Asia.

“We have been focused on building connectivity between China and regional countries, and connections into Europe via all combinations of road, rail and sea services,” said Steve Huang, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding China. “A multimodal solution — combining all modes of transport — enables customers to better manage their supply chains — offering flexibility, cost savings and potentially a reduced carbon footprint.”

“The new service provides greater flexibility and speed for Japan’s exporters, including sectors like automotive and electronics production which already enjoy market dominance in Europe,” said Mark Slade, President and Representative Director, DHL Global Forwarding Japan. “With Less-than-Container Load services to Europe, Japanese businesses can improve the efficiency of fulfilment and inventory management at cost-effective rates, helping them maintain their competitive edge as world-class manufacturers.”

Broadly, combinations of multimodal services can reduce transport costs by up to six times and up to 90% reduction in carbon footprint as compared with air freight, making it an increasingly attractive option for SME and MNC customers alike.

DHL today launched a further three new multimodal services today:

Sea & Rail service: A Less-than-Container Load (LCL) service between Japan and Germany which allows businesses to export low-volume shipments for as little as half the cost of standard air freight. With a transit time of about 22 days, shipments are moved from Kobe to Taicang via sea, and by rail to Hamburg through hubs like Duisburg, Lodz, Malaszewicze and Warsaw.
Road & Rail service: The Vietnam-Europe service takes Full Container Load (FCL) cargo from Hanoi to Chengdu via road, followed by rail to hubs like Lodz, Duisburg and Hamburg in Europe, arriving in 21 days. An LCL option for the Vietnam-Europe service will commence in Q4 2016.
Rail, Road & Sea: Further boosting our Southern rail corridor offering announced last year, the new Chengdu-Istanbul service traverses three Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia — as well as two sea transit segments before arriving at Istanbul in 14 days.
The three new services build on a series of major DHL investments in the last 12 months, including a multimodal service between Japan and Warsaw via Suzhou announced in November 2015; and an MOU signed in May 2016 with Chengdu’s Gateway Logistics Office to upgrade infrastructure and customs processes. DHL has been developing multimodal services along the Belt and Road since 2010, when it launched a suite of five services – International Rail, Rail-Air; Sea/River-Rail; Sea-Air and Cross-Border Road Freight.

Introducing The New Stylus Family for a Connected Life: Bamboo Omni, Bamboo Solo and Bamboo Duo

leave a comment »

In our connected world we are constantly changing between smartphones, tablets and different operating systems to complete even simple tasks. Wacom introduces a new stylus family that allows for quick input and precise response across different mobile devices. The Bamboo Omni is a fine-tip stylus, that works instantly on most iOS and Android™ touchscreens with a simple twist. The re-imagined Bamboo Solo and Bamboo Duo feature a new stylish, comfortable design for precise navigation and a clean touchscreen. Now navigating or writing on a touchscreen is as intuitive and comfortable as a favorite pen.
BERLIN /PRNewswire/ — Wacom® redefines the stylus experience with the introduction of the Bamboo Omni, an innovative fine-tip stylus that works on most iOS and Android touchscreens, and the updated Bamboo Solo and Bamboo Duo styli. With the new line-up Wacom offers an intuitive, ergonomic and stylish solution to the challenges of touchscreens, allowing users to easily navigate through their digital lives and quickly capture their ideas.

“When a new idea crosses our minds or we quickly need to make a note, we intuitively reach for a pen. From our research we knew the Bamboo Omni, like a favorite pen, needed to be simple to use, have broad compatibility and have a fine tip,” said Mike Gay, Senior Vice President for Wacom’s Consumer Business Unit. “The new Bamboo Omni is the perfect pen for a connected life. It’s fast — just twist it to turn it on and you’re ready to work on Android and iOS touchscreens.” The fine tip and its broad compatibility mean that someone using the Bamboo Omni can immediately transition from drawing on a Snapchat or WeChat photo on a smartphone, to marking up a PDF or creating a list on a tablet.

Bamboo Omni — The stylus with a twist

This fine-tip stylus is designed for quick note taking and provides an intuitive experience in note-taking apps, such as Bamboo Paper. A simple twist and the Bamboo Omni is ready to use — no pairing needed. The stylus instantly works across iOS and Android touchscreen devices.

The stylus uses the innovative RES (Reflective Electro Static) technology and is charged via USB. The 1.9 mm thin tip is durable and soft on the screen. The Bamboo Omni has an ergonomic triangular design and a premium soft-touch surface that feels comfortable and well-balanced. The stylus is available in black or white.

Bamboo Solo and Bamboo Duo — A better touchscreen experience

The Bamboo Solo and Bamboo Duo have a fresh new look and, like the Bamboo Omni, feature a comfortable triangle shape and soft-touch surface. The Bamboo Solo and Bamboo Duo allow for a more precise, smudge-free interaction with all touchscreen devices. The long-lasting and replaceable carbon fiber tip works smoothly on all touchscreens including iOS, Android or Windows® smartphones, tablets or PCs. The Bamboo Duo combines this with a replaceable ballpoint pen added at the opposite end of the pen, turning it into a two-in-one stylus for fluid writing on screens and on paper.

#makingthefuture

To share the ideas that the new stylus line enables, Wacom is celebrating the innovators worldwide with #makingthefuture. Live from IFA, Wacom invites attendees to create and share their vision of the future using Wacom’s tools, including the new stylus line, the Bamboo smartpads and the new cloud-based Inkspace. Digital and in-booth visitors can start #makingthefuture by sharing ideas that range from the future of communication to the future of art, food or tech. A sketch note artist will combine the input into a cohesive piece of digital art. These ideas will be captured and shared in an upcoming ebook.
