Tobu Railway, Taiwan Railways Administration to Step Up Collaboration to Promote Exchanges of People

leave a comment »

— Tobu Railway to Issue Commemorative Tickets, Expand Ticket Exchange Program with TRA to Mark Beginning of Operation of Limited Express Ryomo Train with TRA’s Puyuma Train Exterior –

TOKYO /PRNewswire/ — Tobu Railway Co. will issue commemorative tickets and add another specially planned ticket to its mutual ticket exchange program with Taiwan Railways Administration (hereinafter referred to as “TRA”) on June 17 in commemoration of the start of the operation of a Series 200 train used for the Limited Express Ryomo, whose exterior has been changed to that of TRA’s Tze-Chiang limited express, “Puyuma.”

(Photo: http://prw.kyodonews.jp/opn/release/201606161672/)

This is part of collaborative programs, including the mutual ticket exchange program, which Tobu Railway and TRA have promoted since they signed a friendship agreement on December 18, 2015.

Commemorative tickets and their mat board are printed on a single piece of hard paper shaped like the Ryomo train with the exterior of the Tze-Chiang train, and are quite unique. A picture of the train is printed on the mat board with two tickets for adults — one from Isesaki Station and one from Kuzuu Station — and a ticket for children from Akagi Station. Tobu Railway will sell 2,000 sets of the tickets for 1,000 yen (including the consumption tax) each.

Moreover, Tobu Railway and TRA will expand the mutual ticket exchange program they launched on December 19, 2015. Under the current program, passengers who have a ticket for one railway operator can receive a free ticket for the other or receive a discount on a fare of the other. Taiwanese passengers who show a ticket for TRA’s Tze-Chiang limited express at the Tobu Sightseeing Service Center at Asakusa Station can get a specially planned ticket for free or receive a discount for another kind of such ticket. The program will be expanded to cover a Tatebayashi-Ashikagashi pass exclusively for TRA passengers. With this ticket, passengers can take a round trip between Asakusa and Morinjimae stations and ride between Morinjimae and Ashikagashi as many times as they want while the ticket is effective. Tobu Railway decided to include this ticket in those subject to the mutual ticket exchange program to promote publicity of the Ryomo area popular with inbound tourists.

For the outline of the program, see the attached document.

Urban pest control specialist Titan Pest opens office in Yangon

leave a comment »

YANGON, Myanmar /PRNewswire/ — Titan Pest Management, a trusted provider of safe and effective pest management solutions, recently launched its presence in Yangon, Myanmar. Titan Pest is the first overseas subsidiary of one of the most established and reliable pest control providers in Singapore, Killem Pest Pte Ltd.

Specializing in urban pest control, Titan Pest aims to provide Myanmar customers with quality products that meet international standards, using environment-friendly chemicals and the safest, most effective pest control technology.

Titan Pest was set up by siblings Nicole Zycinski – Singh and Krystian Zycinski-Singh in February 2016 to address the increasing demand for effective pest management solutions in Myanmar’s key cities. Their customers include restaurants, hotels, residential and commercial buildings, construction sites, schools, factories, industrial warehouses, and parks and greeneries.

“We are pleased to establish our first international subsidiary here in Myanmar. Yangon, the country’s commercial capital and largest city, is in the midst of rapid urbanization. Over the next few years, there will be hundreds of homes, communities, restaurants and hotels rising as a result of the population and economic boom. Safe and effective pest management is vital to make this city truly livable for the long-term.” said Nicole Zycinski – Singh, Founder and Director of Titan Pest Management Co. Ltd.

Pests pose a serious threat to human health and economic losses to business. Globally, property damage due to termite infestation is billions of dollars. Meanwhile, rodents, cockroaches, flies and mosquitoes spread infectious diseases like dengue, malaria, typhoid fever and leptospirosis.

Integrated pest management

Titan Pest offers an integrated approach to pest management. They focus on prevention and long-term reduction of pest infestation using safe, eco-friendly, least invasive and most efficient methods. Their services are divided into three broad categories: general pest control, mosquito control, and termite control.

Titan Pest conducts detailed consultation with customers, and then inspects the premises if required, before prescribing and implementing the optimal pest control solution. They also provide housekeeping advisory, mould-removal, routine inspection and training services to ensure that premises are free of all pests and thoroughly sanitized.

“Pests are not just a nuisance. They carry diseases and they are economically-destructive. Our solutions create preventative barriers so that pests do not multiply to a point where buildings are crumbling because of termite infestation or there is an outbreak of dengue,” Ms Zycinski-Singh explained.

Prevention is as important as the cure

The onset of the monsoon season in Myanmar further raises the importance of preventive pest control as part of general sanitation. “The rainy season is here and with it comes increased mosquito breeding and higher incidence of diseases like dengue. It is important to have good housekeeping to ensure all possible mosquito breeding areas are kept dry. Mosquitoes only need as little as 5mm of water to lay their eggs,” said Krystian Zycinski-Singh, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Titan Pest Management Co. Ltd.

Myanmar’s Ministry of Health reported an outbreak of dengue throughout the country in 2015, with 35,993 cases, including 120 deaths, reported as of end-September. The figures were three times higher than the previous year. In February this year, the Ministry of Health also launched a public awareness campaign about the Zika virus, which is spread to people through the bite of the Aedes mosquito that also transmits dengue.

“We are committed to partner with government and other institutions to help raise public understanding of the importance of proper pest management. Prevention is as important as the cure. There are innovative solutions and methods available that are very safe and very effective in controlling pests so they don’t harm people, businesses, and the environment,” he added.

Dragonfly Fintech Selected to Implement Payment Solution

leave a comment »

-Solution utilising Blockchain Technology to optimise performance and improve costs

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — Singapore Dragonfly Fintech (DF), clinched a deal today to power Metro Money Exchange, a Malaysian licensed wholesale and money remittance company using the NEM’s Blockchain Technology. The payment and settlement solution will be implemented in partnership with BC Fintech Sdn Bhd, a Dragonfly system integrator.

The solution will drive the entire remittance chain, from wholesale foreign exchange to the receipt of fiat money at the recipient’s end. The remittance market in Malaysia is about $10 billion per annum.

“It is about transforming the money remittance space and repositioning the service as a platform business allowing near frictionless participation,” said Lon Wong, CEO, Dragonfly Fintech.

This solution is also applicable to banks, and they are very positive about this solution. Banks are meticulously working through their processes to ensure stakeholder concerns and needs are addressed before embarking on such a project. Dragonfly will continue to work closely with its clients in supporting their decision-making needs.

While working through the decision-making process with banks, Dragonfly is also taking a parallel approach by powering money remittance companies. Later, this can be integrated with other financial institutions into a huge ecosystem. The use of Dragonfly’s platform will ensure compliance to regulatory requirements with a more robust approach in security, efficiency, cost, and most importantly, introducing a paradigm shift in providing services.

The solution platform does not infringe into the traditional regulatory requirements such as compliance, governance, AML, and KYC. They are still very much the responsibility of the licensed entity and is business as usual. What the platform solution provides is an enablement for the licensed entity to manage all its individual customers’ transactions, leaving the licensed entity to manage the wholesale forex and treasury function separately.

The solution also allows each licensed entity to operate its services in an independent private chain. At an opportune time, these entities can opt into the ecosystem while still having the autonomy.

“We have been ahead of the pack and painstakingly designed this solution for the last 3 years. With a proven solution, we are able to demonstrate a world’s first in setting the standards right, i.e., establish one’s autonomous private chain and then integrate with the larger, massive network of financial institutions, transacting potentially hundreds of thousands of Tx/s at the system level, all on the blockchain while maintaining independence. This remittance service is only one part of a spectrum of solutions Dragonfly is providing, which includes enabling a country to issue its own sovereign digital money,” Wong said.

The impact of the services will include meaningful reduction in transaction cost, faster transactions, complete audit trail, and reconciliation of balances, thereby providing an alternative to current de facto messaging method.

At some point in time, this service will be extended downstream to include mobile payments, debit card functionality, as well as ATM functionality. This is made possible because of the ubiquity and expansiveness of the platform solution. Driven by a core blockchain solution, Dragonfly’s offer is an ecosystem for the financial system, from central banks to the consumer, coupling them seamlessly, and directly.

About Dragonfly Fintech

Dragonfly Fintech Pte Ltd is a Singapore-incorporated financial technology company. It is a pioneering leading edge blockchain platform solution provider for a financial ecosystem, including for the payment, clearing, and settlement sector. The founder is Lon Wong, a serial technopreneur, and inventor of a patent-pending fintech business method. Lon Wong is a core team member of the open source NEM blockchain technology project initiative.

INEOS Styrolution Helps Seoyon E-Hwa Bring Brilliance to the Front Grill of Hyundai’s New Kia K5

leave a comment »

— Seoyon E-Hwa selects INEOS Styrolution Luran® S 778T (ASA) for its dimensional stability and lasting premium appearance
— Complements of its excellent adhesive properties, the polymer is an ideal substrate for hot stamp foils over intricate structures

SINGAPORE /PRNewswire/ — INEOS Styrolution, the world leader in styrenics, has been selected by Seoyon E-Hwa as the thermoplastic supplier for the front grill on Hyundai’s new Kia K5, JFc model. Seoyon E-Hwa, a leading Tier 1 automotive molder headquartered in Korea, manufactures the front grills for Hyundai motor group (Dongfeng Yueda Kia) using one of INEOS Styrolution’s specialty styrenic grades, Luran S 778T. Offering customer’s design flexibility and lasting premium aesthetic value, this Luran S grade’s excellent adhesion properties also make it an ideal substrate for decorative foils, such as those produced by KURZ*.

Key points:

  • Seoyon E-Hwa selects INEOS Styrolution Luran S 778T (ASA) for its dimensional stability and lasting premium high-gloss appearance: Hyundai motor group tasked Seoyon E-Hwa to build a front grill for the new K5, JFc model. The grill design is unique for Hyundai motor group, in that it possesses an intricate diamond-like appearance. Working in collaborative innovation, INEOS Styrolution helped Seoyon E-Hwa identify the right styrenic polymer that would offer the aesthetic and performance properties Hyundai motor group was looking for as the structural material of the grill and substrate for the hot stamp foil from KURZ.
The distinctive design of Hyundai’s front grill is made possible by the strong dimensional stability and premium, high-gloss appearance of the acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) grade, Luran S 778T. The polymer’s moisture resistance further helps boost the grill’s performance in adverse weather conditions, such as rain and snow. Further benefits of Luran S 778T for car manufacturers are the ability to eliminate the need for paint by offering a luxurious, high-gloss finish for car exterior trims and housings, while a UV stabilization package ensures a superior level of gloss and color retention even after years of sun and weather exposure. The polymer’s deep black color not only enhances the grill’s premium look but also offers sustainability and cost advantages in that eliminates the need for paint.
  • Complementing its excellent adhesive properties, the polymer is an ideal substrate for hot stamp foils over intricate structures: Luran S 778T also offers a stable surface for precision foil application and adhesion. This made it possible to employ the use of a hot stamp foil produced by the decorative foil manufacturer KURZ. Unlike chrome plating, the use of hot stamp foil eliminates the need to mask the entire grill. Without the adhesive surface property of the ASA substrate, it would have been impossible to precision apply the foil to achieve the desired brilliant appearance.

*

The KURZ Group is a global leader in hot stamping and coating technology. KURZ develops and manufactures decorative and functional layers applied to carrier foils, stamping tools and machines for a large variety of applications for different industries.

Quotes:

Engineering Development Team, Seoyon E-Hwa: “As a supplier to one of Asia’s most iconic automotive brands, it is imperative we have material suppliers we can partner with to provide the right solutions for our customers. Seoyon E-Hwa has that kind of partnership with INEOS Styrolution.”

SungBeom Park, Asia Pacific Lead, Automotive, INEOS Styrolution: “Our team serving the automotive industry prides itself in working closely with customers to identify and develop the right solution for their application needs. We are very pleased that Hyundai and Seoyon E-Hwa have selected INEOS Styrolution for their front grill application.”

AXA Asia Reveals New 5-year Strategic Plan to Accelerate Towards over 100 Million Customers by 2030

leave a comment »

HONG KONG /PRNewswire/ — At an AXA Group investor conference held today in Paris, AXA Asia revealed its ambitious strategic plan for the next five years, with the objective of growing underlying earnings by 10-12% CAGR from EUR551 million in 2015 to ca. EUR900 million in 2020.

While the insurance market in Asia is anticipated to grow 6-7%[1] per year through economic growth, closing of the savings and protection gaps and the rise of the middle class, AXA Asia’s objective is to outperform the market growth by 4-5% to achieve underlying earnings CAGR of 10-12% between 2015 and 2020 to further accelerate its contribution to the underlying earnings of AXA Group. AXA Asia’s underlying earnings grew at 17% on average and more than doubled over the 2010 to 2015 period.  In 2015, AXA Asia accounted for 25% of the New Business Value (NBV) of AXA Group, and contributed to 16% of AXA Group’s underlying earnings growth from 2011 to 2015.

Jean-Louis Laurent Josi, member of the AXA Group Management Committee and Regional Chief Executive Officer of AXA Asia said, With the successful delivery of our Ambition AXA strategic plan from 2011 to 2015, AXA Asia has built a leading, diversified and profitable platform in the region. Leveraging our unique advantage as an established composite insurer covering 8 markets and 20 million customers, our focus for the next five years will be on the transformation of our entire organisation as the customer-centric insurer, enabling us to anticipate, prevent, protect and care for those we serve. This will enable us to capitalise on the region’s evolving needs and accelerate our growth during this new phase.

The objective of outpacing the market growth will be achieved through the acceleration of a number of proven key enablers including the following four:

  1. Leveraging AXA’s unique partnership portfolio
  2. Reaching new customer segments
  3. Delivering more value from AXA’s existing customer base
  4. Improving the business mix

Leveraging AXA’s unique partnership portfolio

AXA has established a proven track record of successful partnerships. Now, AXA’s Asia ambition is to further leverage these strong relationships around the region, including ICBC and Tian Ping in China, Krungthai inThailand and Bank Mandiri in Indonesia, to address a combined base of over 700 million customers in Asia.

Laurent Josi noted, In China, ICBC-AXA Life started operations in 2012 and has already become the #1 international insurer in Life & Savings[2]. However, we have enormous untapped potential ahead of us, which is to leverage the largest bancassurance deal in the world, as we currently have only reached less than 1% of ICBC’s customers in China.

Reaching new customer segments

As more and more customers in Asia will progress from the lower income segments to the developing middle class, AXA wants to grow its offering and business along with them to become their partners and a leader in the highly under-insured emerging middle class segment with a target of serving over 35 million customers in this segment by 2020.  Based on this target and customer demographics, AXA Asia will offer simple yet innovative products focusing on these specific customer needs, with the focus on the strategic markets of Indonesia, India,Thailand and the Philippines through partnerships with in particular Telcos, payment banks and retailers.  In Indonesia, AXA has already sold 1.5 million policies to emerging customers in this segment and maintains a profitable portfolio.  Going forward, AXA Asia is well positioned to capture the market potential and accompany its customers throughout their economic enrichment.

Extracting more value from AXA’s existing customer base

By deploying cross-selling initiatives across the region, AXA’s Asia ambition is to more than double the number of Life & Savings (L&S) and Property & Casualty (P&C) customers with more than one contract.  In Hong Kong, where AXA is the #1 P&C[3] insurer and #5 L&S[3] insurer in its market, there is a clear opportunity to leverage digital capabilities to deepen AXA’s engagement with its customers, as currently only 2% hold both L&S and P&C contracts.

Improving the business mix

With a continual shift of its business mix towards less interest rate sensitive and more profitable products, AXA Asia will focus on developing the Protection & Health and Unit Linked business in L&S, while in P&C, expand into more profitable lifestyle products such as Home, Travel, Personal Accident and Liability.  With a significant proportion of APE already derived from Protection & Health and Unit Linked products, AXA Asia will continue to grow the Lifestyle Premium fourfold from 2015 to 2020.  In Thailand, where AXA is the #3 L&S insurer[4] and where the market has a strong preference for Pure Savings products AXA already managed to start shifting its product mix towards more protection, thereby significantly improving the NBV margin.

Laurent Josi further commented, Off the back of clear and proven growth enablers, our strategic plan will drive AXA Asia’s objective to outpace the market.  Coupled with a strong culture of innovation and a diverse talent base, we have firm foundations to achieve our goal of serving over 100 million customers in Asia by 2030.

Indonesia heavy equipment industry: construction is the only positive sector

leave a comment »

-Sales in the construction sector rose from 30 percent as of January-March 2015 to 48 percent as of January-March 2016

JAKARTA, Indonesia  /PRNewswire/ — Falling demand for heavy equipment has resulted in a significant drop in sales. In the first quarter of 2016, sales in almost in all sectors recorded negative growth with the remarkable exception of the construction sector.

As of March 2016, United Tractors, carrying Komatsu products, is the market share leader in the domestic market of heavy equipment with 34 percent, followed by Hitachi (20 percent), Caterpillar (16 percent), Kobelco (15 percent) and other brands (15 percent). From January to March 2016, Komatsu sold only 499 units, a 35 percent decrease from the same period of last year, which saw the sale of 763 units. The largest degree of negative growth took place in the forestry and mining sectors, suffering a 58 percent and 59 percent decrease, respectively (Source: The Jakarta Post).

The data also shows that sales in the construction sector rose from 30 percent as of January-March 2015 to 48 percent as of January-March 2016. In the last few years, demand for heavy equipment in the construction sector has increased as the government’s infrastructure projects have started to kick in.

With the issuance of a related decree in 2015, imposed since March 31 of this year, heavy equipment is now categorized as a non-motor vehicle. Various businesses in construction, plantations, and ports using heavy equipment are now relieved from the many taxes generally imposed on motor vehicles. Hope also arises from heavy equipment manufacturers. Jamaludin, chairman of the Association of Indonesian Industrial Heavy Equipment (Hinabi), has welcomed the decree and hopes that it will relieve consumers in Indonesia and drive demand.
