Bostik Expands Production Capacities in the Philippines

New manufacturing plant in Misamis Oriental will serve construction customers in the high growth Mindanao and Visayas regions

Bostik, the specialty adhesives business line of Arkema, has expanded its cementitious powder production capacities, based on its world-class Polymer Modified Binder (PMB) technology, with the opening of a new plant inthe Philippines. As a leading global adhesive specialist for construction, consumer and industrial markets, Bostik will be able to serve construction customers in the high growth Mindanao and Visayas regions with a new manufacturing plant in Misamis Oriental.

The facility is Bostik’s latest plant opening in South East Asia and will manufacture products including tile adhesives, wall finishing products and other construction systems.

Ipreo Conducts Successful Test of “IssueLaunch” in Asia

-Leading investment banks and buy-side firms embrace new-issue publishing platform

HONG KONG and LONDON and NEW YORK /PRNewswire/ — Ipreo, a leading global financial services technology and data provider, announced another successful test of its IssueLaunch platform, which enables sell-side banks to publish deals to the buy side. Nine of the Asia’s leading investment banks and nine buy-side firms participated in the latest test in February.

The Asia test follows on the heels of the successful testing and roll out of IssueLaunch in Europe in the fourth quarter of last year.  Since the roll out, more than 150 live deals have been announced over IssueLaunch.  Fifteen banks have been participating in testing, and nearly 40 buy-side firms are regularly receiving live deals over the platform.

The IssueLaunch platform publishes new-issue terms and conditions in a secure manner to buy-side investors who can view this information in the Ipreo DealMonitor application or programmatically consume the data via the Ipreo DealServices API. It can be used as a standalone application, but is also a core component of Ipreo’s Investor Access platform, which allows buy-side investors to electronically submit Indications of Interest (IOIs) on fixed-income deals directly to the syndicate book. Investor Access is being developed in partnership with eleven banks.

IssueLaunch and Investor Access build on the foundation of IssueNet, Ipreo’s syndicate-to-syndicate communications network that enables banks to synchronize order books between members of the deal’s syndicate and streamline the deal management process between banks. Key trends and findings of the PE compensation study:

  • Regional funds now solidly offer compensation on par with global fund platforms, allowing them to compete head-on for talent.
  • The number and size of control transactions continues to grow, fueling an increased focus on value creation and the recruitment of operating professionals.
  • Compensation is rising across the board, as it has in our 2015 and 2014 surveys, with growth most pronounced in junior execution professionals.
  • There has been sustained growth in new fund initiatives as existing platforms broaden their offerings and new players enter the market with niche strategies. Key growth areas include credit & special situations, real assets, technology and early-stage investing.

Increasing and broadening demand from well-funded Limited Partners is attracting investment professionals from General Partners as these firms grow their exposure to direct private equity.

According to Asian Venture Capital Journal, private equity investment in the region topped US$139 billion in 2015, a record total and up more than 50 percent from US$92.5 billion in 2014.

“Another important finding this year is that succession planning within the PE sector in Asia is lacking.  In many cases there just isn’t a clear leadership pipeline for top executives,” said Michael Di Cicco, Heidrick & Struggles Partner and Head of the Private Equity and Real Estate practices in Asia Pacific.

More than half of all Partners and Managing Directors surveyed said their funds do not have a succession plan in place for the leaders of their Asia fund platforms. The responses were similar for global funds with offices in Asiaand regional funds whose headquarters are in the region. “Private equity is a long-term business and generational change is a risk that funds need to address,” said Di Cicco said.

In December of 2015, Heidrick & Struggles surveyed more than 200 executive leaders within the PE sector. As part of the survey, the firm collected data on compensation levels from 2013 to 2015, and recorded the expectations of respondents for 2016 bonuses and base salaries.

This is the third year in a row that Heidrick & Struggles conducted the APAC PE compensation survey.
