-China’s Anti-Information Fraud Society invites CyberSource to join a network of Chinese companies to share fraud management expertise
-China’s Anti-Information Fraud Society aims to strengthen eCommerce fraud management efforts by Chinese companies and organizations, in order to boost overall information security in the country

BEIJING and SHENZHEN, China /PRNewswire/ — CyberSource, a Visa Inc. company (NYSE: V), and one of the world’s largest providers of eCommerce payment management services, joins China’s Anti-Information Fraud Society (AIFS), the country’s first anti-online fraud union, co-founded by Tencent Inc. and law enforcement agencies in China. CyberSource will be able to share its expertise to create better awareness in the eCommerce market of fraud management and related topics, as well as potential solutions. This will be done in close collaboration with the other AIFS members in a collective effort to build a safer online payment environment.

China’s eCommerce market is expected to grow from US$390 billion in 2014 to US$718 billion in 2017[1]. With eCommerce booming, online fraud is expected to grow as well.

“As online shopping in China becomes more prevalent, there is plenty of personal information available online now. Chinese consumers are becoming more sophisticated, so an online community which safeguards personal information is fundamental to driving and sustaining eCommerce,” said Thomas P. Chen, Deputy General Manager of the Mobile Internet Market Department, Tencent. “Building a credible network to share knowledge and best practices helps enhance the industry’s focus on promoting a secure environment for eCommerce users.  Hence, we see the need to equip all relevant parties with the necessary Internet security knowledge pertinent to our cause. By leveraging CyberSource’s fraud management expertise in this alliance, we strongly believe we can elevate fraud management efforts more effectively across China to protect both consumers and merchants.”

Since it was founded in 2013, AIFS now counts nearly 100 companies and organizations as members, including security firms, dot-coms, banks, media companies and industry regulators. With more than 600 million Internet users in China[2], AIFS works closely with law enforcement agencies to manage online fraud, cybersecurity of mobile payments, as well as malware programs in the country. Since its establishment, AIFS has helped prevent a loss of US$43.4 million from online fraud[3]. It has also advised telecommunications carriers to block 5,100 suspicious phone numbers and 1,390 unsafe websites[4].

“Efforts to address eCommerce fraud in any market are more effective when done collectively. As the world’s largest eCommerce market and with the increasingly global reach of its eCommerce players, it is crucial that key stakeholders in China collaborate by exchanging knowledge, expertise and experience, while being supported by an established infrastructure.  We are honored to be a part of the Anti-Information Fraud Society to share our fraud management expertise, and help to continue to build trust in online payments,” said Poon Khye Wei, Regional Director, Greater China and Korea, CyberSource.

RS Components Makes It Quicker and Easier to Find Products and Place Orders Online with Latest Website Upgrades

leave a comment »

-Online improvements significantly enhance customer experience

HONG KONG /PRNewswire/ — RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has made a number of important enhancements to its website to make the customer purchasing journey quicker and simpler. The upgrades, which include a redesign of the website header, facets of search and product pages, are all based on customer feedback to make it easier to find products and place orders. By helping to increase the conversion of visitors to the website, the changes are expected to drive the Group’s online sales and help it on its way to achieving medium-term target of 70% of its business to be transacted online.

A significant improvement to the RS website is the new header design, which makes it easier for customers to use the site, such as finding products, viewing new products or customer account information, as well as find the site through search engines such as Google. Another key enhancement is the redesign of product pages across the site. Larger product images, clearer pricing and stock availability, easier access to datasheets and product details, whilst providing a more intuitive filtering of search results by product attributes all combine to make it quicker and easier to find the right products and see the relevant product and pricing information to make a purchase.

Further upgrades to the website include: boosting the most popular product categories to the top of search results; the ability to create parts lists for future reference or sharing; and the ability to remember customers’ details so that they can check out more efficiently with saved defaults and preferences and not have to repeatedly log in when revisiting the site.

Keith Reville, Global Marketing Director at Electrocomponents, said: “Improving our customers’ online experience is fundamental to our eCommerce strategy and our goal to build a GBP1bn eCommerce business at the heart of the company, and these latest enhancements are another step to achieving this. We continually listen to what our customers tell us to make it easier for them to do business with us and to ensure we provide the best online experience in our sector.”

President Jokowi Opens Indonesia’s Flagship Furniture Exhibition, IFEX

leave a comment »

HONG KONG, March 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Indonesia’s largest ever furniture tradeshow, the Indonesia International Furniture Expo, IFEX 2015, opened yesterday at the Jakarta International Expo fairground. The exhibition completely fills all halls of the fairground as well as several large temporary halls that have been built to accommodate demand to participate from exhibitors.

President of Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, speaking with Mr. Sonoeto, Chairman of Indonesia Furniture Association, AMKRI, at Indonesia Furniture Expo 2015, IFEX 2015

The exhibition was opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, reflecting the importance of the furniture industry and furniture exports to the Indonesian economy. It is particularly fitting that Jokowi, as the President is popularly called, should open the fair as his background is in the furniture business.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of IFEX 2015, President Jokowi said, “I encourage the industry and government to work together to achieve the national goal of US$5 billion of furniture exports within the next four years.”

More than 470 companies are exhibiting at the four-day exhibition with a wide range of contemporary and traditional furniture and home furnishing products. The focus is on wooden furniture and rattan furniture products, with the majority of exhibitors from Indonesia. There are also several exhibiting companies from overseas, notably from Taiwan, Malaysia and mainland China. A total of 8,000 trade buyers are expected to attend the exhibition, with a large number coming from overseas.

IFEX is organised by PT Dyandra UBM International, a joint venture between Dyandra, Indonesia’s leading exhibition organiser, and UBM Asia, the largest commercial organiser of tradeshows in Asia. The exhibition is hosted by the Indonesia Furniture Association, AMKRI.

Mr. Ernst K. Remboen, President Director of PT Dyandra UBM International, commented, “the furniture industry in Indonesia is enjoying very robust growth on the back of strong exports and surging domestic demand. The nation has abundant supplies of sustainable raw materials such as wood, rattan, bamboo and natural textiles, as well as a highly skilled labour force and extensive manufacturing capacity. The size of IFEX is expanding each year, and I expect that it will soon become one of the key events in the global calendar of furniture exhibitions.”

Mr. Christopher Eve, Director of PT Dyandra UBM International, added, “IFEX is a highly focused business-to-business exhibition, where high quality manufacturers showcase their latest products lines to the international buyer community. In addition to supplying high quality and competitive products for the mass market, Indonesia’s great strength is in offering individualistic, handcrafted furniture using natural materials such as hardwood and rattan and traditional designs. It is not just the traditional furniture, but also the mass produced furniture products offered by Indonesian producers are of excellent quality. This is where I think Indonesia excels.”

Mr. Remboen agreed, adding that unlike other countries, Indonesia is different because the country has all the raw materials and master craftsmanship in one place. “This enables Indonesia to offer high quality products at highly competitive prices, something that countries such as Singapore or Malaysia cannot compete with,” he said.

With regard to the expected value of transactions at this year’s fair, Mr. Abdul Sobur, Secretary General of AMKRI, commented, “around US$200 million of on-the-spot transactions were reported at the 2014 event. With a higher number of exhibitors and an increase in confirmed prospective international buyers attending, I am confident that we will see an even higher value of on-the-spot transaction this year.”

“Beyond the Space” Public Art Exhibition at Harbour City

AHAF Hong Kong 2015 will further extend the popular exhibition and launch the “Beyond the Space” Public Art Exhibition at Harbour City. To bring art closer to the public, mega art installations, sculpture works, paintings and photographs by artists from around the world will be displayed at different locations around the mall.

a) The King’s Vacation by Yuki Matsueda @ Ocean Terminal Forecourt

After graduating with a PhD in Design from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Japanese artist Yuki Matsueda has gained a global reputation for his 3D artworks and “escaping” graphics. The artist has been known for capturing the incredible moments when ordinary objects escape from their graphics which result in some lively 3D works.
Matsueda made sure to go big for his first ever outdoor exhibition as he created his largest art piece ever, The King’s Vacation. The art piece comprises of four giant light box sculptures in the shape of playing cards (2m x 1.45m x 0.6m, H x L x W). The works are made using acrylic to freeze the kings as they leap from the center of the card. Trapped in the card, the kings try desperately to escape from the frame. Eight chairs in the shapes of spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds will be placed around the card to let the public engage in this interesting and fun body of work.

b) Memory Scape by Christo and Jeanne-Claude @ Gallery by the Harbour

The Memory Scape art exhibition at “Gallery by the Harbour” will showcase the legendary works of internationally-acclaimed “Land Art” artists Christo and his wife, Jeanne-Claude. The duo are widely known for their life-long commitment to public art. Their most famous and unique “Land Art” creations feature wrapped public buildings, bridges and even coastlines to create new ways of seeing familiar landscapes.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude began their collaborative art careers in Paris in the late 1950s and spent many years creating highly celebrated works of art across the globe, including Running Fence (California, 1976), Surrounded Islands (Florida, 1983), The Umbrellas (Japan, 1984 – 1991) and Wrapped Reichstag (Berlin, 1971 – 1994). Gallery by the Harbour will showcase the legendary works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude including precious hand-drawn drafts and photos, bringing you into the memory scape of the couple’s artistic life.

c) Lovely by Kim Byung-jin @ Atrium II, Gateway Arcade

Korean artist Kim Byung-jin graduated from Suwon University with a Master’s degree in Sculpture. Combining familiar worlds, his unique sculptures are a reflection of the effect of language as a cultural phenomenon in society. The word “love,” for example, which features in this set of exhibits, is the artist’s way of displaying the concept of love as it becomes a cultural and commercial trend. His colourful work for this exhibition, titled Lovely, is composed of a pair of black (H 2.5m) and white ducks (H 1.55m) as well as a red apple (H 1.4m).

d) The Bitter Sweet Life by Byun Kyung-soo @ Atrium I, Gateway Arcade

Korean artist BYUN Kyung-soo obtained a Master’s degree in sculpture from the Slade School of Art in London and the Seoul National University respectively. With the notion that people have been alienated thanks in part to communication through the internet, he created the series, The Bitter Sweet Life. Several sculptures were made of fiberglass, in similar looks but different colours. The artist wishes to express that although the distance between people may often seem very far, we can bring each other closer through communication. As his sculptures are hard to distinguish without any facial expressions, you may still recognize them by their unique gestures if taking a closer look and understanding the concept from a more profound perspective.

Little Art Castle @ Harbour City

A little art castle and color pencil trains will be displayed at G/F, Ocean Terminal of Harbour City. Shoppers can also be the Little King & Queen taking photos with the cute soldiers. Artworks collected from “Exchange Smile” charity program will also be displayed on the castle walls and trains. Within a specified period on weekends, public can take the opportunity to exchange art through draw creatively from your imagination on cardboard and display it on the castle wall!

This year, the Malaysian government continues to place the country on the global Halal map as a viable and attractive trade and investment destination through its inaugural World Halal Summit (WHS). The event will be held from 30th March to 4th April 2015 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia.

MIHAS, the world’s largest Halal trade fair, showcases over 600 booths of Halal products and services from more than 30 countries every year

WHS will feature a trade fair and six subject-focused forums hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia (MITI). The event is jointly organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC). Co-organised and managed by Shapers Malaysia Sdn Bhd, several educational institutions such as the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) will also join forces as the event’s strategic partners.

WHS will showcase the largest, world-renowned integrated Halal trade fair called Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS). As the star component of the World Halal Summit, MIHAS, in its 12th edition, has evolved from being a mere platform to create awareness on Halal products and services to being an avenue that emphasises on business transactions between the local and international Halal industry’s stakeholders.

Since its inception in 2004, MIHAS have become the go-to Halal expo having congregated approximately 170,000 visitors from 70 nations, 4,000 companies from 48 countries, and generated more than USD3 billion in sales over the past 11 years. MIHAS’ stature has earned the brand its image as an ideal stage for the Halal industry to showcase good quality products and services as well as a place for new networking prospects and business partnerships among businesses around the world.

According to Datuk Dr. Wong Lai Sum, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, “MIHAS offers local and international businesses an avenue to reach out to the right target audience to market their Halal products and services.”

Thousands Report Economic Pressures Impacting a Good Night’s Sleep, Philips 10-country Survey Reveals

leave a comment »

-Stress about work and finances ranked higher than technology as sleep disrupter in 8,000-person survey; More than 80 percent of respondents see opportunity to improve sleep

PRNewswire/ — Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today released “Sleep: A Global Perspective,” the first in a series of reports highlighting sleep trends and habits collected from a survey of nearly 8,000 people across 10 countries. Released in support of the World Association of Sleep Medicine’s annual World Sleep Day, the report revealed that worry about work, finances and the economy was the leading factor impacting sleep. In addition, while sleep is recognized globally as important to health and well-being, most people are not taking any steps to improve it.

“Over the past few years, many surveys have focused on the negative impact that technology and mobile devices can have on sleep, but our report confirmed that the global factors impacting people’s sleep are much more varied and complex,” said Dr. Teofilo Lee-Chiong, M.D., Chief Medical Liaison, Philips. “And, while it’s refreshing to see people around the world equally valuing sleep as critical to their overall health, there’s clearly more that people can be doing to ensure they’re on a path to a better night’s sleep.”

People want more sleep, but don’t know how to get it

Of the 7,817 people surveyed in the United States, Brazil, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany, China, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, 96 percent said sleep is valuable to them. At the same time, 57 percent of respondents admitted that while their sleep could be better, they haven’t taken action to improve it. And, only 17 percent consistently sleep through the night, with 22 percent of respondents noting they wake up before they would like five to seven nights a week.

In addition, six percent of respondents reported having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This is consistent with other reports indicating that more than 100 million people globally suffer from this disorder. Because an estimated 80 percent of patients with OSA remain undiagnosed, a substantial number of people may benefit from proper screening, diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea.

The economy’s impact on sleep

Among a list of 12 different factors influencing overall health and well-being — including family, work, school, social life and intimacy with a partner — sleep ranked the highest, at 87 percent. But right behind it at 84 percent was money/financial security. Additionally, among a list of 13 factors keeping people up at night, respondents selected work (25%) and financial/economic issues (28%) as their most common sleep disruptors. While 67 percent of people around the world sleep with a mobile phone within reach, only 21 percent said technology was a sleep disruptor.

“Our report indicates how psychological factors can impact sleep, and how those factors can change depending on the times in which we live,” said Dr. Mark Aloia, Senior Director of Global Clinical Research, Philips. “Combating stress is critical to a good night’s sleep, but the toughest part for people is often just getting motivated to make changes. These data further demonstrate that sleep needs to be viewed and treated holistically, with both technology and lifestyle solutions that work together to promote better health.”

Of the countries most worried about work, South Korea (43%), Brazil (33%) and China (32%) ranked the highest. Of those most worried about economic/financial issues, Brazil (39%), Germany (31%) and the U.S. (31%) topped the list. Philips issues global challenge to improve sleep

The first step to better rest is investigating your risk of an underlying sleep disorder. A significant percentage of the global population is estimated to suffer from disrupted sleep, and sleep apnea is one of the most common of sleep disorders that is often undiagnosed. Find out if you may be at risk by taking the sleep apnea symptoms quiz.

In addition to addressing potential sleep disorders, it is important to embrace behaviors that can improve your sleep. Life’s stressors can keep anyone up at night, but small changes can offset stress triggers and prepare your body for the rest it needs. Throughout the week leading up to World Sleep Day, March 9-13, Philips issued a global five-day #BeWellSleepWell challenge to empower people to take back control of their sleep and overall health. Philips encouraged people to make one small lifestyle change each day for five days to improve their sleep and well-being.

See how your sleep compares to those around the world and learn tips for getting better rest by following the #BeWellSleepWell conversation on Twitter: @PhilipsHealth and @PhilipsResp, and Facebook: Philips Health and Philips Respironics.
