Independent research conducted by Frost & Sullivan’s Growth Partnership Service aims to highlight successful growth strategies achieved by companies operating in the global test & measurement market, with best-in-class performance recognized in the three key areas of growth, innovation and leadership. Following extensive analysis according to the key benchmarking criteria of new product attributes such as quality and design; andcustomer impact, including price/performance value, positioning and customer ownership experience, Red Pitaya was rated highest performing company in the category for 2014.

The Frost & Sullivan research highlighted that key aspects to the positioning of Red Pitaya are that it is a multi-function, open-source, and reconfigurable instrument. Red Pitaya is more than a product; it is a test and measurement environment that includes the board, an application store called Bazaar, a source code library called Backyard, all of which foster collaboration and ultimately unleash the inventiveness of users. Red Pitaya is based on a dual core ARM Cortex A9 + Xilinx Zynq 7010 FPGA system-on-chip (SoC), which features a dual core processor and FPGA logic, allowing for software and hardware programming. Customizable at the FPGA and CPU levels, Red Pitaya is able to process real-world signals.

The evaluation by Frost & Sullivan concluded: “Red Pitaya is a breath of fresh air in the test and measurement industry. Frost & Sullivan’s independent analysis of the test & measurement market clearly shows that through a combination of high performance and small size at a lower price than competing alternatives, the value proposition of Red Pitaya is boosted by the open-source and reconfigurable aspects of the platform. With its strong overall performance, Red Pitaya has earned Frost & Sullivan’s 2014 Global New Product Innovation Award.”

The report also highlighted the successful role of RS and Allied as exclusive global distributors of the Red Pitaya platform, which has witnessed great demand in the U.S., Germany, and Japan since its introduction to market inMay 2014, and is gathering pace worldwide.

Rok Mesar, CEO of Red Pitaya, commented: “The defined nature of other instruments currently available in the market is a challenge for end users, as they cannot use them for specific applications beyond their basic functions and, more importantly, evolve them as their needs change. Red Pitaya offers a more flexible solution, and this award is testament to the need for this type of instrumentation ecosystem. I would also like to put on record that the support from RS and Allied has been a key component in Red Pitaya’s success.”

Ignacio Yanez, Category Marketing Manager, Electrical & Test and Measurement, RS Components, added: “When we assumed the position of exclusive distributor for the Red Pitaya platform less than one year ago, we had undertaken extensive testing of the product and were very confident about its quality, and of its value to test and measurement engineers. Red Pitaya tallies with our key business objective of delivering affordable, accessible, innovative products to our customers worldwide. This award is a fitting recognition for Red Pitaya’s development team, and we are pleased to be part of its increasing commercial success.”

-One-stop air freight logistics center with expanded warehouse and a unique 1,600 sqm cold storage facility for Life Sciences and Healthcare customers

SHANGHAI /PRNewswire/ — DHL Global Forwarding, leading provider of air, sea and road freight services in Europe and Asia, has invested RMB 115 million(Euro 16 million) to expand its Shanghai air freight facility, building up a new warehouse and 1,600 sqm cold storage facilities for Life Sciences and Healthcare customers, and housing key air freight and customer service teams on one site.

The new Shanghai air freight logistics center has been developed on the site of the existing DHL facility on No. 529 Haitian Yi Road within the No. 1 Customs Supervised Bonded Zone and is the only international freight forwarder there that provides temperature controlled storage in its own facility. Housing a four-storey office, the entire facility will accommodate almost 1,000 staff when fully operational. It will be home to all DHL Shanghai staff in air freight operations and product teams as well as the complete customer service team. 500 staff moved in when the office became operational at the start of the year.

Kelvin Leung, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific said: “This development has been in the pipeline since 2010 and we completed construction last year with the aim of creating a super facility in Shanghai that’s a one-stop logistics service shop for all of our air freight customers. Now DHL Global Forwarding can offer an integrated service that’s wholly operated by our specialist teams — all under one roof. Not only are we providing better service quality, we are also offering new and unique services too. DHL is the only logistics company in the Shanghai No. 1 Customs Supervised Bonded Zone that can offer customers cold storage in a multi-temperature controlled space.”

The now-operational expanded warehouse covers a total space of 15,211 sqm and is more than double the original warehouse. It has been developed to service air freight import shipments with warehousing, distribution and value added services for commodities ranging from electronic spare parts, automotive components and machinery to life sciences and healthcare commodities. The investment has allowed DHL Global Forwarding to increase both its operational capacity and expand its services to customers in the cold chain market with the addition of a 1,600 sqm temperature controlled storage area including a cool room, control room and refrigeration container operating at different temperature range from 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, 15 to 25 degrees Celsius and -18 to 0 degrees Celsius.

Steve Huang, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding China said; “The demand for cold chain services is increasing and we now have 20 times more capacity than we did. Not only do we now have the space but we are also offering a world class standard DHL Thermonet service. Our customers in China have peace of mind knowing that they can choose a seamless temperature controlled service that has complete integrity – from temperature controlled trucks, warehouses, transit shuttles to flights — all continually monitored by DHL’s smart sensors.”

Especially for customers in the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector, the loading dock at the cargo receiving area is designed in a special way to meet their strict requirements for temperature control. These customers can also look forward to seamless door-to-door temperature controlled services from cargo pick-up, warehouse storage, delivery to airports and the ability to monitor the temperature status throughout with DHL’s RFID SmartSensor technology, even when the cargo is on the plane. As part of DHL Thermonet network of Certified Life Sciences Stations, the Shanghai facility is audited against globally defined Good Distribution Practices to ensure conformity across the network.

DHL Thermonet provides seamless temperature visibility along the supply chain, 24/7 proactive monitoring and intervention based on pre-determined touch points and DHL’s RFID SmartSensor technology, that is GDP certified. Temperature data and logistics events can be accessed via the proprietary LifeTrack IT platform that also houses all product-specific SOPs, facilitating early intervention and simplifying document control. DHL Thermonet has a global network of more than 80 Certified Life Sciences Stations.
