New university hospital facilities in Solna, part of the metropolitan area of Stockholm, are currently under construction and scheduled to be opened in late 2016. Today, the existing Karolinska University Hospital is one of the leading academic hospitals in the world and the new hospital has the ambition to further strengthen this position. The new Karolinska University Hospital will take a truly patient-centric approach to health care, and develop new care pathways by integrating patient care, clinical research and education. As a major teaching hospital, the new hospital will educate the medical specialists and healthcare professionals of the future.

In line with this approach, the agreement has a strong focus on innovation and collaboration. The new Karolinska University Hospital will have access to state-of-the art imaging solutions and services, including those of other vendors, for a multi-year term at predictable costs. The managed equipment services include the procurement, system integration and timely updates to ensure that the new hospital will be provided with the imaging functionalities that its departments require for the optimal delivery of care. Moreover, Philips will establish a research & innovation hub at the new Karolinska University Hospital that will bring researchers from the medical technology industry, hospital and academia together to help facilitate a closer link between the delivery of care and clinical research. This is expected to contribute to new research findings being translated into new therapeutics and treatment methods faster.

“With this innovative agreement, Philips, the Stockholm County Council and Karolinska University Hospital are committing themselves to work together and enable the high innovation pace that is necessary to address future health care challenges,” said Karen Sorensen, CEO Philips Nordic. “For Philips, this agreement fits perfectly in our strategy to become a solutions company in health care, where we partner with our customers to transform health care in multi-year engagements, with performance-based revenue models.”

The procured imaging equipment such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and interventional X-ray systems will be owned by the SCC and will be used throughout the new hospital in radiology, cardiology, neurology, oncology, and pediatrics for both patient care and clinical research.

The new Karolinska University Hospital will be operated with a low environmental impact. Philips aims to contribute to this with a strong range of Green Imaging Systems, which include for example MRI systems that have 20% lower energy consumption than the industry average.

CNH Industrial bus brand, Iveco Bus, wins a major tender from the Paris public transport operator, RATP, thanks to its leadership in hybrid and gas technologies

leave a comment »

The Paris, France transport operator, RATP (Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) recently launched a major European multi-year tender (2014-2017) for a contract for some 1,000 standard 12-metre hybrid and gas citybuses.

BASILDON, United Kingdom, May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — RATP, the Parisian public transport operator, has just awarded two of four tender lots for new generation compressed natural gas (CNG) and hybrid electric citybuses to CNH Industrial’s Iveco Bus brand.

These technologies have been chosen for their environmental qualities with Iveco Bus having anticipated RATP’s needs in terms of the reduction of urban pollution, currently a core concern for many European cities.

A new chapter has begun in the historic partnership between RATP and Iveco Bus. With nearly 5,000 buses in service throughout Europe, Iveco Bus has been the leading European manufacturer of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) buses for many years. Emission levels of the Cursor 8 CNG – an engine renowned for its technological excellence – are below the levels of the Euro VI directive. For the greater benefit of both city-dwellers and passengers, the noise levels with the Cursor 8 CNG have been halved and its vibrations attenuated at all operating speeds.

The Iveco Cursor 8 CNG engine is manufactured by CNH Industrial’s powertrain business, FPT Industrial, at the Bourbon-Lancy, France, manufacturing site. Since 2003, 24,000 Cursor 8 CNG engines have been produced at this factory, for road and industrial applications worldwide, including a recent supply to repower bus fleets in Beijing, China.

Iveco Bus won the RATP tender thanks to its all new Urbanway citybus also available in a Full Hybrid version. A “genuine lounge in the city”, the Urbanway combines technologically advanced systems with a brand-new attractive design, an all new driver’s area developed according to the latest EBSF (European Bus System of the Future) guidelines, under the aegis of UITP, the International Association of Public Transport, providing the very best in ergonomics, space and comfort.

The Full Hybrid version of the Urbanway confirms the commitment of Iveco Bus to sustainable mobility and to cities that have chosen to adopt “cleaner” bus transport. The traction drive uses a downsized fuel-effective Euro VI engine with exclusive Hi-eSCR exhaust gas after-treatment technology, coupled with an electric-generator engine. The energy accumulated during deceleration is recovered and stored in new generation lithium-ion batteries; this energy is then restored during acceleration. The elimination of the gear box results in a smoother drive and excellent jolt-free acceleration, thus guaranteeing passenger and driver comfort.

This hybrid technology decreases CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by between 25 and 35%. Using 30% less fuel is equivalent to a reduction of over 25 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle per year, which represents more than twice the weight of the vehicle.

The Urbanway Full Hybrid has a new “Arrive & Go” function which ensures “100% electric” silent arrivals and departures at the bus stops, with no pollution or vibrations; these advantages are equally beneficial to both passengers and local communities.

As the historical and largest bus supplier of RATP, Iveco Bus consolidated its position, having perfectly anticipated the operator’s will to adopt sustainable and environmentally friendly buses.

Petrotechnics Named “Cool Vendor in Oil & Gas” by Leading Analyst Firm Gartner

leave a comment »

ABERDEEN, Scotland, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Petrotechnics, the global leader in transforming frontline operational performance and lowering operational risk announced today that leading analyst firm Gartner has named Petrotechnics a “Cool Vendor” in Oil & Gas in a report published by Gartner on April 25th 2014.

Gartner’s annual “Cool Vendors in Oil & Gas” report recognizes vendors that are bringing innovative capabilities to help oil and gas companies succeed. Cool vendors are transforming the way businesses operate and consumers engage with technology. They inspire organizations to think differently, challenge conventional thinking and offer distinct competitive advantage.

Over the past 25 years, Petrotechnics has pioneered, proven and successfully delivered innovative software solutions that transform how work is carried out and how risk is managed at the frontline in hazardous industries. Proscient, Petrotechnics’ Operational Performance and Predictive Risk software platform, provides companies with the capabilities to optimize how they manage workload against operational risk in their dynamic operations. With a common view of risk from the frontline to the boardroom, operational decision making is enhanced. This allows companies to get more of the right work done safely and efficiently to improve asset integrity and keep people safe.

Gartner’s Cool Vendors in Oil and Gas 2014 report stated: “Although it would seem simple in theory to conduct work both safely and efficiently, in practice, conflicts arise, and without real-time visibility into these conflicts and how they affect safe work execution, time is lost and risk exposure can go up. Petrotechnics takes much of the complexity out of the equation by exposing the risks and identifying the barriers to safe and efficient work execution. Petrotechnics is cool because it changes the safety-productivity dynamic and enables the companies that use the product to reduce operational risk while improving productivity.”

“Petrotechnics is honored to be recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor. We believe our inclusion in the report is a significant validation of our strategy and efforts to help organizations in hazardous industries reduce operational risk and improve production efficiency,” said Scott Lehmann, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Petrotechnics. “As Gartner stated in the report organizations with an interest in reducing risk and improving the productivity of their operations should consider integrated risk management solutions such as Proscient. It moves beyond legacy EPTW systems and helps to better connect the often disparate work management process to provide a common and practical view of operational risk. With a better understanding of the major hazard risk and the impact of workload, frontline workers and senior leaders can make better decisions to get more of the right work done safely, efficiently and sustainably to improve asset integrity and keep people safe,” added Lehmann.

With Proscient you can take control and better manage all of the frontline work activity and operational risk in your dynamic operations. Proscient’s collaborative risk-based work execution capabilities bridge the gaps in the work management process improving coordination and collaboration across Maintenance, Operations, Planning, HSE and Engineering functions. With intuitive and practical tools, it ensures a unified approach from the frontline to the boardroom. Proscient can provide organisations with significant business benefits:
