KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Danny Rampling, widely considered to be one of the founders and leaders of the British club scene and former BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM Broadcaster, and his wife Ilona Rampling performed at Marini’s on 57’s, Malaysia’s highest rooftop bar, restaurant and lounge, at their annual Formula One (F1) Kick Off party on March 28, 2014, to celebrate the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Modesto Marini, owner of Marini’s on 57 said, “Our patrons come from all over the world and especially so during the Formula One weekend here, and we pride ourselves with providing special entertainment from performers that you do not see much regionally. Call it a treat or the icing on the cake; they can expect an unforgettable experience with Mr and Mrs Rampling. The couple has performed at the Abu Dhabi and Bahrain Grand Prixes, and we are delighted to have them performing during the Malaysian Grand Prix.”

Danny is a globally respected DJ who is known for his deep vocal house and garage sound for over 20 years. He has successfully produced over 40 remixes and has also played at various exclusive F1 parties across the world. In the late 80’s, Danny created the blueprint for the United Kingdom (UK) rave scene and electronic music explosion. In December 2012, Danny hosted a special London Shoom event to celebrate his 25 years of Dance Music culture and was sold out in an hour.

David Guetta told Forbes Magazine that, “I discovered House music in the first wave, way back in 88′….I went to London and saw a DJ, Danny Rampling, at a club called Shoom, which and whom were leading this counter-culture acid house revolution in the UK. He was center stage with a crowd going wild like I’d never seen before. I was transfixed; it was my epiphany moment.”

Alongside with his American wife, Ilona, they formed Mr & Mrs Rampling in 2013. Ilona is the darling of the super hip East London Club scene and has been the in-house DJ for leading UK fashion designers Basso + Brooke for the London Fashion Week. Having recently joined forces as a DJ team with her husband, the couple continuously tour the world together, submitting radio shows, alongside recording albums and remixing tracks and this year, they will be the highlight of Marini’s on 57’s annual F1 Kick Off Party.

Mr and Mrs Rampling plays select highbrow DJing gigs at the world’s hottest dance clubs, and whilst Marini’s on 57 is not a full-fledged dance club, it is currently one of the best nightspots in Malaysia, having won the Hospitality Asia Platinum Award for Best Nightspot of the Year recently.

“Mr and Mrs Rampling performed exclusively at Marini’s on 57 in Kuala Lumpur for one night only before returning to London, pretty much the kind of experience our patrons are already used to and have come to expect. The bar turned into Malaysia’s party paddock in the sky,” added Modesto.

Founded by Modesto, himself the recipient of the HAPA Icon of the Year award, the multi-award winning venue is the highest bar, restaurant and lounge in Malaysia. It has been featured in the Asian Times travel show on the Travel Channel, and is a popular location choice for regional reality shows such as Asia’s Next Top Model and The Apprentice Asia.

Since opening its doors in 2012, celebrities such as Jimmy Choo, Tiger Woods, Dwight Yorke, Glenn Hoddle, Valentino Rossi, Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Bruhl, Eric Cantona, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger have been spotted at Marini’s on 57. Former Formula One driver Jarno Trulli himself hosted a wine pairing dinner at its restaurant to launch his own range of wines in Asia, and golfer Michelle Wie celebrated her birthday here with fellow LPGA star, Paula Creamer.

Modesto, known as the King of Italian Cuisine in Asia, graduated with high honours in culinary arts in Italy in 1986 after which, he spent two years working as a sous chef at a famous restaurant in Mayfair, London – a top Italian restaurant favoured by celebrities such as Sean Connery. He later spent four years in Singapore as a chef and opened two restaurants. He moved to Kuala Lumpur in 1995. Throughout his career, he has cooked for the who’s who of celebrities such as Max Biaggi, Reubens Barichello, Felipe Massa, Eric Cantona and the legendary rock group, The Scorpions.

Perched on the 57th floor of Menara 3 Petronas, Marini’s on 57 employs a three-in-one venue concept where patrons can enjoy contemporary food, great cocktails, fantastic views and music at the same time. Since its opening, it has steadily garnered acclaim as the best rooftop bar, restaurant and lounge regionally.
