Frost & Sullivan Commends LoopUp’s Commitment to Simplifying Conferencing and Collaboration

leave a comment »

— LoopUp’s remote meetings product tackles classic conference calling pain points and brings a ‘no training’ philosophy to richer collaboration

LONDON, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Based on its recent research on the conferencing services market, Frost & Sullivan presents LoopUp with the 2013 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Entrepreneurial Company of the Year. Frost & Sullivan finds that LoopUp provides an uncomplicated, hassle-free conferencing experience for its end users, without compromising on the conferencing must-haves of robust reliability and security. This simple, intuitive experience has helped it achieve 45 percent growth in its European business in 2013, and the company is all set to expand further.

LoopUp’s design philosophy is based on the conviction that user training is a hurdle to widespread enterprise adoption of a conferencing product. This approach is validated by the usage rates of its mobile apps; LoopUp’s users with the app actually use it on more than 60 percent of their conference calls for better visibility, security and control.

The solution can create conference invitations automatically from Outlook and all major web browsers and mobile platforms. Invitations include a ‘join’ link, which enables attendees to join without having to use dial-in numbers or PIN codes. Through timely alerts when the first person joins the meeting, LoopUp users are guided to mobile and web apps that display who’s joined and who’s speaking at any given moment. If one of the attendees has ambient noise, the moderator can detect it and mute it. If the moderator wishes to share a presentation or document, he or she can do so at any time with a single click.

“A key LoopUp innovation has been enabling its users to seamlessly turn everyday conference calls into richer collaboration sessions with one-click screen sharing,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Mark Hickey. “At any time, the moderator can share his/her screen with the audio conference attendees.

“Moreover, LoopUp’s flexible pricing structure has been designed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing small and mid-market segments, as well as appeal to large enterprises,” said Hickey. “It offers both a pay-as-you-go service and a monthly subscription package. Customers can switch between these models as their conferencing needs evolve, or as they discover greater value in the other package.”

Adapting to trends such as the rising use of mobile devices for conferencing, integration with other services, and collaborative working is proving essential to sustaining growth. LoopUp made its services available on BlackBerry, Apple and Android handsets to cater to mobile users.

LoopUp’s vision, backed by a clear strategy, has enabled the company to meet the demands of a growing market and establish its position as a highly innovative and customer-focused company.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in devising a strong growth strategy and robustly implementing it. The recipient has shown strength in terms of innovation in products and technologies, leadership in customer value as well as speed in response to market needs. In short, the award looks at the emerging market players in the industry and recognizes their best practices that are positioned for future growth excellence.

Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.

Frost & Sullivan: Care Team Implementation a Critical First Step in Medical Practices’ Transition to Accountable Care

leave a comment »

— The future of care teams will enhance patient engagement tools

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — As accountable care transforms the U.S. healthcare system, changing culture is becoming a leading challenge for providers. For decades, primary care physicians and specialists have practiced in autonomous, independent silos as a result of prospective payment requirements for reimbursement. However, as doctors begin to augment their practices to manage defined populations, it has become evident that to meet this challenge, providers will need to adapt and reorganize around clinical care teams.

The processes, thoughts and requirements for implementing care teams requires in-depth analysis and assessment of the current organizational structure and behavior of an independent practice, including the level of health IT infrastructure in place to support this movement.

Frost & Sullivan’s new white paper, The Accountable Care Team: A Guide for Care Delivery Transformation (http://www.connectedhealth.frost.com), profiles the innovative approach of Oregon-based Providence Health & Services, a progressive integrated delivery network. The analysis examines the comprehensive process to transform independent physician practices into care teams as a strategy to succeed in an accountable care environment. It also presents an implementation model for healthcare organizations to consider prior to the adoption and deployment of care teams and examines how electronic health records (EHRs) can facilitate and sustain this transformation.

For more information on this analysis or to access this white paper, please email Jennifer Carson, Corporate Communications, at jennifer.carson@frost.com.

Apart from their organizational structure’s ability to accommodate care teams, health systems also have to assess their health IT- and EHR-readiness before taking any steps to transform their care delivery system. In fact, EHR technology is central to the success of care teams and their ability to coordinate care across the enterprise, connecting providers, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, patients, their families and caregivers. The weakest links in the organization will be doctors who lack the experience or the understanding to transform an independent medical practice into a care team.

“Transforming a current delivery system into one that implements care teams requires strategic planning and operational insight,” said Frost & Sullivan Connected Health Senior Industry Analyst Patrick Riley. “This translates to an analysis of the ways in which the organization is staffed, trained and prepared to embrace care teams.”

Once the care teams are identified, healthcare organizations must evaluate the methods of electronically sharing health information along the care continuum. They must also be able to assess if they can deliver the health analytics required to effectively intervene in personal care plans and thereby, prevent or halt the progression of the identified chronic disease.

Accountable care will require advanced population analytics to help orchestrate and optimize collaboration among the various providers. Clinical and business intelligence must be made available to providers in an easily consumable format, at all points of care along the continuum.

In addition to analytics, enhanced provider-to-provider communication will enable the enterprise to transform its primary care IT infrastructure from a business platform supporting individual providers, to a cohesive technology environment that supports integrated care teams.

“Just as physicians must supply the leadership to sustain care teams, so must the executive leadership respond with its own level of new leadership to support IT requirements and the creation of core, clinic-based teams,” noted Riley.

Frost & Sullivan analysis has revealed an emerging leader developing solutions for population health and patient relationship management. Kryptiq, a healthcare IT industry innovator, enables providers to identify care opportunities informed by clinical and financial data at the point-of-care. By unifying care teams, and connecting provider organizations to the Surescripts Health Information Network, Kryptiq enables healthcare delivery organizations to improve patient care quality, practice efficiency and accountability.

Kryptiq’s CareManager is embedded deeply into the EHR. It is an intuitive population health management solution that aligns the care team with the decisions made at the point of care by presenting the data, dashboards and interventions to more effectively manage clinical and financial risk.

Frost & Sullivan: Innovation in Touch Technologies Propelled by High Demand from Consumer Electronics

leave a comment »

— Use of multi-touch interfaces, haptics and optical imaging will proliferate

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Touch technology is rapidly gaining popularity in a variety of market segments due to its ability to enhance the interaction between an individual and machines or devices. In particular, consumer electronics products, such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, are using this technology on a large scale.

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.technicalinsights.frost.com), Innovative Applications of Touch Technologies, finds that projected capacitance multi-touch technology interfaces are expected to be even more adopted widely by 2015. Capacitive touchscreens should find use in larger screens, such as those used in televisions and corporate board meeting rooms. Touch controllers will be more prevalent in larger screens for such applications as ATM kiosks and industrial monitors. Haptics as well as optical imaging touchscreen technology expect to make greater inroads in consumer electronics, driven by their ability to provide a more enriched and realistic user experience.

For complimentary access to key slides from Frost & Sullivan Technical Insight’s Innovative Applications of Touch Technologies analysis, please visit: http://bit.ly/MklO6Q. If you are interested in more information on related research, please send an e-mail to Jeannette Garcia, Corporate Communications, at jeannette.garcia@frost.com.

Haptics augment touchscreen technology, enabling individuals to perceive touch sensations when using electronic devices. Haptics can enable non-verbal communication between people and machines/devices using touch sensations. It is used, for example, to perform complex surgery with great accuracy and in gaming for an enhanced user experience.

In recent years, touch technology has progressed considerably in terms of integration into new products, innovative materials used, sensing and haptics technologies. Such developments include illuminative interactive multi-touch screens with motion sensing that allow user interaction through a floating panel on a large screen with a high level of clarity and screen resolution. There has also been development of innovative nanomaterials and roll-to-roll manufacturing for the creation of higher performing touch sensors and improved touchscreens/displays.

“Touch and gesture recognition, a prominent feature within touch technology, is finding opportunities in various industries, such as automotive, consumer electronics, and healthcare, as well as in appliances used for commercial and home automation purposes,” said Technical Insights Research Analyst Jithendranath Rabindranath. “The incorporation of haptics and optical imaging into consumer electronics is also gaining acceptance.”

However, there exist limitations in process efficiency and the high cost of integrating these new technologies in large area displays can slow down market potential. Ineffective system integration, which results in longer reaction times and can somewhat hamper overall user experience, poses another challenge. Difficulties in meeting the needs of a variety of applications further hinder development.

Advancements in manufacturing techniques will be vital to improve economies of scale and lower costs. It will also encourage vendors to integrate new technologies to large-area displays and improve their performance benefits.

“A number of start-ups and research institutes are carrying out extensive research in this field with investments from venture capitalists,” noted Rabindranath. “Original equipment manufacturers are also assigning more importance to their R&D activities, including designing software for increasing human machine interaction.”

Innovative Applications of Touch Technologies, a part of the Technical Insights subscription, covers the key technology trends in the touch technology based on nine different dimensions: year of impact, market potential, global footprint, IP activity, funding, breadth of industries, impact on megatrend, potential points of convergence, and size of innovation ecosystem. This research service analyzes the technology and market trends enabling innovations in touch technology and opportunities rendered by the technology in diverse markets.

Volvo Pilots Ground-breaking ‘Roam Delivery’ Service

leave a comment »

GOTHENBURG, Sweden and BARCELONA, Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ —
Volvo Cars demonstrates the potential of connected cars with deliveries direct to people’s cars
Over half of people (60%) experienced delivery problems through online shopping last year
Failed first-time deliveries cost the industry an estimated EUR 1billion in re-delivering costs
Digital keys now make it possible to transform the car into a pickup and drop-off zone
In a ground-breaking technology move for the automotive industry, Volvo Cars demonstrates the world’s first delivery of food to the car – a new form of ‘roam delivery’ services. The service, which will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress, will allow consumers to have their shopping delivered straight to their car, no matter where they are.

Volvo’s new digital keys technology will allow consumers to choose their car as a delivery option when ordering goods online. Via a smartphone or tablet, the owner will be informed when a delivery requires dropping off or picking up from the car.
Having accepted the delivery, a digital key will be activated which tracks when the car is opened and then locked again. Once the delivery is completed, the digital key ceases to exist. The system is based on the functionality of the telematics app Volvo On Call, which also makes it possible to remotely heat or cool the car and see its position or fuel level via the mobile phone.
Earlier this year Volvo Cars launched Sensus Connect, an integrated on board navigation and infotainment experience. Volvo Cars’ strategic partnership with Ericsson builds further on the idea of the Networked Society by examining a host of consumer centric concepts around the “Connected Vehicle Cloud” that sees the driving experience revolutionized over the coming years.
Last year, 60% of people shopping online had problems with the delivery of their item.[1] Research revealed that people across the globe feel increasingly stressed in their daily lives. In a report from Future Foundation, all of the countries studied showed an increase from 2010 to 2011 when responding to the statement “I’m often under time pressure in my daily life”.[2]
Despite the rise of online shopping, research has also revealed that over a half of people are not at home to receive online deliveries, leading to further hassle and time wasted through failed deliveries.[3]
‘Roam delivery’ is one example where Volvo Cars explores the potential of connected cars to create solutions which will simplify the customers’ everyday lives. The pilot programme has also revealed 92% of people found it more convenient to receive deliveries to their car than at home.
“By turning the car into a pickup and drop-off zone through using digital keys, it’s now possible to deliver the goods to persons and not just places. The test-customers also indicated that the service clearly saved time. And the same thing is valid for delivery companies a well! Because failed first-time deliveries cost the industry an estimated EUR 1billion in re-delivering costs.[4] We are now further investigating the technology of digital keys and new consumer benefits linked to it,” says Klas Bendrik, Group CIO at Volvo Car Group.
Today, we can see how our devices are becoming seamlessly linked to one big ecosystem. This ecosystem will likely change the way we own cars, the way we drive cars, but also change what the car can do for you – even when parked.
With Volvo Car’s Sensus Connect, the car owner now has access to a variety of cloud-based services. Among other things, Volvo drivers are now able to find and pay for parking from the car, locate restaurants, stream music and much more.
During Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Volvo Cars will showcase the full potential and range of services with Sensus Connect, including deliveries to the car, to selected media in Ericsson’s stand on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th of February.
