LONDON/PRNewswire/ — Two of the world’s greatest photographers capture the spirit of famous New York community in unique collaboration
With the Nokia Lumia 1020, “you’ve got it.” That’s the verdict of David Bailey and Bruce Weber, two of the world’s best-known photographers, who used the 41 megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020 in a unique collaboration to capture the spirit and soul of Harlem, New York.

Nokia has today released nearly 60 photos from the pair’s photoshoot in Harlem, which demonstrates that the Nokia Lumia 1020 is the perfect camera to help people capture the moment in unrivalled detail, and with ease.
The stunning photos are available to view at The Nokia Photography Room and are currently being exhibited at the Nicholls & Clarke Building in Shoreditch, East London. A video featuring Mr Weber and Mr Bailey on the shoot will be shown at the exhibition.
Mr Bailey said: “The Nokia camera [Nokia Lumia 1020] helps you capture the moment, which is the most important thing.”
Mr Weber said: “I don’t do digital and this is the first time I have really gone out in the world and done like a digital sitting. I was impressed with the resolution and the beauty of the colour.”
The London exhibition, entitled “Weber X Bailey by Nokia Lumia 1020” will run until 21 September and is free to members of the public.
With 41 megapixels, ZEISS optics, and optimised image stabilization – the Nokia Lumia 1020 establishes a new benchmark in smartphone imaging. It simplifies the controls previously reserved for professionals, and reinvents zoom to help people capture, edit and share better photos with ease.
“The photos from Weber and Bailey’s shoot are dazzling,” said Mark Newton, VP, Nokia Brand and Marketing Creative, Nokia. “They are a reflection of Weber and Bailey’s mastery of the art of photography, but also represent a hugely symbolic moment in the development of smartphone imaging. The Nokia Lumia 1020 empowers people to take better pictures.”
Weber and Bailey spent 24 hours in Harlem in July on a quest to capture the heart and soul of New York’s vibrant community. It was the first time the life-long friends had worked together on a project.

Lionel Messi Launches Election for FIFA FIFPro World XI

leave a comment »

BARCELONA, Spain/PRNewswire/ — Lionel Messi gave the official start sign for election of the FIFA FIFPro World XI of 2013. In the coming months, FIFPro will be giving every professional football player in the world the opportunity to select his favourite eleven players. Messi cast the first vote on Thursday, thousands of other players will be filling in the voting papers soon.
(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130913/638654)
Every year, FIFPro asks the reigning world footballer of the year to be the first player to cast a vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI. Messi eagerly took the opportunity of filling in the form. His Barcelona team mates followed suit.
‘Of course I consider it an honour to be the first to cast a vote, particularly because it is a very special election,’ explained Messi. ‘This is the only global award that is one hundred percent based on the votes of the players. Your colleagues know why a footballer is good. That is what makes being elected for the FIFA FIFPro World XI such a significant prize.’
Messi knows what he’s talking about. In 2008, the then 21-year-old Messi received the World XI trophy for the first time. Since then, he has been in every successive FIFA FIFPro World XI. The Argentinian, now 26 years old, is the record holder with six selections – just as many of Cristiano Ronaldo.
In 2013, Messi led Barcelona to a new national title and to the Spanish Supercup. In the semi-finals of the Champions League, he had to watch injured from the side line as Barca failed to beat Bayern Munchen, who went on to win the title.
This is the ninth year that FIFPro organises the World XI election. The world players union sent out almost 50,000 voting papers to 68 countries in Africa, America, Asia and Europe. The players will be able to fill in their form until 1 November. The eleven players (1 keeper, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 strikers) with the highest number of votes will be honoured on Monday 13 January 2014 during the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala in Zurich, Switzerland.
The FIFA FIFPro World XI of 2012 was: Iker Casillas; Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; Andres Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez; Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao.

Generics Market Forecasted to Grow in Southeast Asia

leave a comment »

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — With its fast-growing, young population and uninsured majority in Southeast Asia, countries in the region represent a great opportunity for generics in the pharmaceutical industry.  Rhett Hemedes, Head — OTC Marketing, Great Eastern Drug Co. Ltd., one of the speakers at CPhI — Generics Southeast Asia Summit 2013, notes, “Generics in Southeast Asia, while relatively small in size are growing rapidly as access to medicines are improving. This means that competition will intensify and the business will become tougher for local players and a continuing opportunity for the multinationals. Operations will be critical given the increasing availability of unbranded generics and price erosion as well as the increasing regulatory requirements. With the bigger markets with low access to medicines such as Indonesia opening up, the competitive environment will expand with the total number of players expected to increase at a lower marginal profit, hence the need for operational efficiency.”

By 2016, market has been forecasted to grow to US$3.9 billion and both Big and local pharma are looking to capitalise on the opportunity. Regulatory, market access, issues and drivers are some of the topics that will be addressed on September 23rd at the CPhI — Generics Southeast Asia Summit 2013 conference in Bangkok. One of the speakers, Marcus Pitt, President Director/CEO, SOHO Group also commented, “There are a number of key factors that will influence the rise of generics throughout the region, these include government spending, foreign investment, price, innovation, infrastructure development, growth in number of health care professionals, establishment of medical facilities, etc. The growth in generics places local generic manufacturers in a strong position — many governments support local business and most foreign companies rely on the support of local partnerships. Having said that, the biggest advantage will come to a greater number of people being able to access more healthcare than they have before. One last point, we still see the therapeutic areas of cancer and diabetes as the next big growth areas — particularly in our market, Indonesia.”

Dr. Jennifer Jian Kang, Senior Patent Attorney of Bayer Healthcare (China) who will also be speaking at the regional Generics Summit also commented that, “I believe this market becomes more and more important. Of course, we have to come up with innovations that the world really needs. That way we can earn a good return on our investments, and have a business model that is financially sustainable. But a company that innovates does much more. Innovation must become so crucial to us that it shapes our whole culture. You cannot be a world-class athlete if you do not align your whole lifestyle to this objective. So we have to embody innovation in the way we conduct all of our day-to-day business.”

The CPhI — Generics Southeast Asia Summit 2013 will take place in Bangkok from 23-25 September. The Summit is a platform for business knowledge sharing and networking amongst top tier government, buyers, distributors, big pharma as well as regional and local manufacturers. It will address macroeconomic factors, policies, issues and drivers affecting the pharmaceutical industry in Southeast Asia with speakers from the Food and Drug Administration, Philippines, SOHO Group, Bayer Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, MEGA WeCare, Great Eastern Drug and many more.
