ESI International Aligns Project Management Course Curriculum with Industry Standards and Best Practices
New curriculum offers more global content for easy adoption across regions, and provides relevance and flexibility to suit business needs in a globalised world
SINGAPORE, July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — ESI International, the world’s leading project management training company, today announced the alignment of its project management course curriculum with international industry standards and best practices, with aims to providing project managers and organisations with the relevance and flexibility they will need to succeed in a globalised economy.
ESI International undertook a comprehensive review of its curriculum and has made changes to its courses and aligned them with a broader set of standards and global best practices, instead of a single body of knowledge. These include standards and best practices from the Project Management Institute (PMI), Association for Project Management (APM), International Project Management Association (IPMA) and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
Backed by ESI’s 30 years of research and documentation of well-defined project management methodologies, the new approach will enable its project management courses to be more inclusive and appeal to a broader global audience.
The new set of courses will provide customers with more globally relevant content and flexibility for customisation to specific project management methodologies, strategic initiatives and business goals. Through a more global and robust course content set, ESI will be able to respond better to customers’ changing business needs and diverse global operations by offering credible project management standards that are applicable across different regions.
Furthermore, by aligning the course content with global practices and not tying to any one specific standard, ESI’s courses will become less prescriptive and more facilitative. This advantage will enable training instructors to better tailor course deliverables to specific needs of the audience, facilitate discussions on the various credentials available to students, and encourage peer-to-peer learning.
“Our new approach to the course updates is the result of a thorough analysis of qualitative feedback, quantitative data and industry research,” said Raed S. Haddad, Managing Director for Asia Pacific, ESI International. “We are excited about the positive impact this approach will have on our trusted partners and customers. Through launching the new set of course curriculum, we are taking a step further in our commitment to support customers in solving issues and maximising the opportunity for return on investment.”

Open Source Design Centre provides reliable information and connection point for engineers designing with open source hardware
SINGAPORE, July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world’s leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has announced the launch of its ‘Open Source Design Centre’, a comprehensive free guide to open source electronics design hosted on designspark.com, the company’s online resource for electronics design engineers.
The Open Source Design Centre brings together all of the elements involved in open source design in a single, easy-to-access reference point. It provides reliable information on matters ranging from open source licensing guidelines to advice on hardware and software management. Its aim is to educate engineers in open source design, and to aid and encourage their active participation in open source design projects.
RS Components has developed the Open Source Design Centre in cooperation with Andrew Back, a leading industry expert in open source hardware and founding member of the Open Source Hardware User Group(OSHUG), the UK’s leading open source hardware group established in 2010.
“While open source hardware has until recently been at the low end of the electronics design spectrum, it is steadily increasing in interest as the opportunities for industry, education and experimentation become apparent,” commented Back. “By working with RS Components, we are tapping into a vast global base of engineers on designspark.com, many of whom will be the key players in taking forward open source hardware into mainstream electronics design.”
“The growing popularity of open source hardware design has become self-evident over the past twelve months with the release of new versions of low-cost development boards such as Arduino and BeagleBone, and the launch of Raspberry Pi has created extraordinary demand around the world,” said David Tarrant, Head of Community Development at RS Components. “RS Components is a trusted source of information on new designs and new technologies for engineers. Our new Open Source Design Centre brings together essential information our users can rely on to support them throughout the research, development and design cycle.”

GenScript’s Rush Gene Services Help Novavax Expedite 28-day Development of H7N9 Vaccine
PISCATAWAY, N.J., July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — GenScript, the world’s largest provider of synthetic genes, has aided a leading biopharmaceutical company, Novavax, Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX), in developing an avian influenza A/H7N9 vaccine candidate, by synthesizing three constructs containing genes that encode for key vaccine proteins in just 6 business days. On May 10, 2013, Novavax announced that its vaccine candidate was developed and entered into pre-clinical trials in only 28 days, less than 6 weeks after initial reports of H7N9 infections on April 1.
The manufacture of the constructs used in Novavax’s H7N9 vaccine candidate was powered by GenScript’s Rush Gene Service, which synthesizes gene sequences in as few as 4 days. GenScript also offers free gene sequence optimization, which is advantageous for the production of vaccines and protein-based biologics. Normally, it takes researchers using traditional laboratory methods two weeks or more to assemble constructs like those used to produce an H7N9 vaccine. However, as demonstrated by the rapid development of Novavax’ vaccine candidate, the combination of gene optimization, rush gene synthesis and custom cloning, facilitated by GenScript’s one-stop service platform, can drastically reduce assembly time, accelerating research and development.
“Our mission is to save lives by helping scientists accelerate their research. In this case, our Rush Gene Services are the perfect example of our commitment to our mission,” said GenScript CEO Frank Zhang, Ph.D. “The progress made by scientists at Novavax on its H7N9 vaccine candidate in such a short time is the reason why we are dedicated to providing high-quality services on a daily basis.”
