UBM ASIA (Thailand) launches Myanmar’s 1st International Industrial Manufacturing and Subcontracting Exhibition
YANGON, Myanmar /PRNewswire/ — Following the outstanding success of INTERMACH in Thailand — one of largest and most popular International Industrial Manufacturing exhibitions in the region — the show’s organizer, UBM Asia (Thailand), is proud to extend the event to the new Myanmar this year. South East Asia is currently one of the world’s few economic bright spots. And with the implementation of the AEC (Asian Economic Community) in 2015, the region will become the third largest trading bloc on the planet with a population exceeding 600 million. INTERMACH Myanmar is being launched at a perfect time.
The AEC will form a single regional market and production base that provides a level playing field of economic opportunity among ASEAN members. The Community will also enable the integration and development of SMEs and accelerate progress for less-developed member states so they can become part of the global economy, providing outstanding opportunities to all ASEAN member countries…especially Myanmar.
GOLDEN OPPORTUNITIES AWAIT IN MYANMAR
Following the country’s recent political and economic reforms, foreign investors will now be able to take advantage of multiple new opportunities. Myanmar is rich in natural resources including arable land, forestry, and natural gas, and is also blessed with plentiful fresh water, marine resources, and precious minerals such as gems and jade. In fact, Myanmar has enormous potential as a production base for global manufacturers.
With the country’s rapid growth and a steady increase in foreign investment, business opportunities for manufacturers of industrial machinery and equipment will be excellent. INTERMACH Myanmar will present a showcase of industrial machinery from around the world. Introducing new machinery and equipment can give SMEs the competitive edge they seek – which is why INTERMACH has been so successful.
The launch of INTERMACH Myanmar will be an historic milestone — the first international industrial manufacturing and subcontracting exhibition ever held in the country. The show will be held from 24-26 October 2013 at Tatmadaw exhibition hall, Yangon.
“With unprecedented growth and development now underway in Myanmar and set to grow even further with the new ASEAN Economic Community — the timing for INTERMACH Myanmar couldn’t be better,” said Mr. M. Gandhi, Managing Director of UBM Asia. “The inaugural event is expected to host leading industrial machinery manufacturers from around the world. It is also projected to host quality trade visitors,” the Director added.
PLUS!
INTERMACH Myanmar 2013 is being located with SUBCON Myanmar 2013 — Myanmar’s first international industrial subcontracting event.
SUBCON Myanmar 2013 will be one of the strategic tools that helps link quality subcontractors with international parts buyers representing many different industries.
INTERMACH Myanmar 2013 together with SUBCON Myanmar 2013 will be one of the most important industrial machinery and subcontracting exhibitions in Myanmar and the ASEAN region.

Donnie Yen Co-Chaired the Evening Attended by 400 Prominent Guests, Featuring a Special Live Performance by British Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor on Saturday, 16th March 2013

HONG KONG, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — FilmAid Asia and Moet & Chandon hosted their second annual Power of Film Gala on Saturday, March 16, with actress Uma Thurman honoring humanitarian filmmaker Lixin Fan. Co-chaired by FilmAid Asia Board Directors Claire Melwani, Levina Li-Cadman, Moet Hennessy Diageo HK Managing Director Shaine De Venny and honorary co-chair FilmAid’s Global Artists Council member, actor director Donnie Yen, the evening brought together 400 international guests from the worlds of film and finance, fashion, art and music among others.

Power of Film Gala 2013: Uma Thurman and Donnie Yen

For its second year, Moet & Chandon again showed their invaluable support of FilmAid Asia as the presenting partner of the fundraising gala. The evening raised over HK$3.5million, with proceeds to support FilmAid Asia’s programmes in the region. This will include skills training in story telling and film production, partnerships with NGOs and local community based organisations, group screenings of educational and inspirational films that address issues pertinent to the Asia region — such as land mine awareness.

Levina Li-Cadman, co-chair of the Power of Film Gala, said: “It was an honour to have Uma Thurman and Donnie Yen pay tribute to Lixin Fan – and to be supported by Josie Ho, Godfrey Gao and Archie Kao on the night.” She continued, “This gala would not have been possible without Moet & Chandon’s on-going support. They are a company with a longstanding commitment to FilmAid and film, for which we are all grateful.”

“China is the hub of the Asian film industry,” says Shaine De Venny Managing Director Moet Hennessy Diageo HK. “It’s also now one of the most important centers in the world for fine wines. What an opportune time to bring these two globally important creative communities together in Hong Kong, acknowledging film’s increasingly significant role in humanitarian efforts. We are most indebted to Donnie Yen and FilmAid Asia for their outstanding leadership in this effort, and to Uma Thurman for joining us in honoring Lixin Fan.”

Donnie Yen added: “I was delighted to welcome Uma Thurman to my home city as we honoured Lixin Fan. I am thrilled with the success of the evening and FilmAid Asia’s goal of using film to inspire and change the lives of those people displaced by war, trafficking and natural disasters was something the film communities once again supported.”

The Power of Film Gala, hosted by Gala Co-Chairs FilmAid Asia Board Directors Claire Melwani, Levina Li-Cadman, Moet Hennessy Diageo HK Managing Director Shaine De Venny and honorary co-chair actor Donnie Yen began under the stars at Clear Water Bay Film Studio with the red carpet arrivals of film luminaries and fashion icons. Guests then moved to a cocktail reception in Studio 1 accompanied by a jazz performance by the Wysocki Trio.

After cocktails, guests proceeded to Studio 2, where they were seated for a special dinner prepared by the Intercontinental Hotel. Champagne for the evening was generously provided by Moet & Chandon. These included the Grand Vintage Rose 2002, noted for its light fruitiness with an underlying touch of cinnamon and liquorice and hint of smokiness; the Rose Imperial Magnum, an intense bouquet of strawberries, raspberries and cherries; and the Grand Vintage Rose Collection 1990, a brilliant and refined champagne with notes of nutmeg, vanilla, caramel, followed by a subtle tinge of apricot, plum and fig. The last of these champagnes served is the House’s 29th vintage rose since 1920, a genuine treat for the honoured guests and the only way to toast to the power of film and philanthropy.

Craig Leeson welcomed the crowd, and introduced Iliane Ogilvie Thompson, Director FilmAid and Anthony Steains, Chair of FilmAid Asia. Further into the evening Moet & Chandon’s Regional Managing Director Mark Bedingham introduced Uma Thurman and Donnie Yen. Donnie Yen presented the tribute to Lixin Fan accompanied by a short reel of his work, with Uma Thurman presenting the award.

Auction items included a trip to Roland Garrros courtesy of Moet & Chandon, a chance to heliski in Switzerland with a personal ski film directed by extreme filmmaker Thierry Donard and an original artwork from photographer Andrew Macpherson. Actress Josie Ho helped auction off a day on the set of her latest movie, and Uma Thurman took to the stage to auction signed bottles of champagne complete with kisses for the lucky bidder. Godfrey Gao threw in a surprise lot, a private screening with him at The Upper House while tickets to a Tribeca Film festival premiere completed the New York package.

Following this was a special performance by Sophie Ellis-Bextor featuring the songs Murder on the Dance Floor, Can’t Fight This Feeling, Groovejet and Heartbreak. The evening culminated with dancing to British DJ Joe Lye.

Guests in attendance included Hezek Tang, Thomas Wu, Mira Yeh, Aron Harilela, Goodwin Gaw, Jennifer Woo, Nansun Shi, Alan Lo, Yenn Wong, Bobo Wan, Fiona Kotur Marin, Perveeen Crawford, Charmaine Li-Jepson, Marisa Zeman, Samer Ahmed, Divia Harilela, Jaime Ku, Ben Ku, Denise Ho, Calvin Zhang, Mahnaz Lee, Rina Wadhwani, Olivia Buckingham, Tina Leung, Amanda Strang and Jeremy Ng.

The entertainment world was represented by Godfrey Gao, Archie Kao, Andrew Ooi, Peter Loehr, Conroy Chan, Terence Yin, Jessica Jann, Keiko Takahashi, Vernie Yeung, Carl Ng, Winnie Tsang, Michelle Ho, Yukie Kito, QiQi, and Fernando Sulichin.

Carrying Kotur to the event were Uma Thurman, Josie Ho, Cissy Yen, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Claire Melwani, Levina Li-Cadman, Magdelena Corso, Petrina Steains and Fiona Kotur.

NEW YORK /PRNewswire/ — Alles Group Mexico City, one of the largest independent commercial real estate services firms in Mexico City, has joined the Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) family, expanding NGKF’s presence in Latin America. Effective immediately, the company will do business as Newmark Grubb Mexico City, giving NGKF an important presence in one of Mexico’s most active real estate markets and broadening its services throughout the region.
(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120821/MM60819LOGO )
As one of the world’s top five metros by population, multinational corporations are increasingly viewing Mexico City as a vital hub for their operations, and development activity across all sectors is strong. This includes mixed-use projects in the CBD, retail centers throughout the metropolitan area, and modern industrial and logistics facilities at the outskirts of the city. The manufacturing sector, in particular, is booming, led by the export of autos.
“Mexico City is increasingly in demand by property investors and corporate users of real estate, and it is a key international city that has been underserved with respect to the office and retail sectors,” said Barry M. Gosin, NGKF’s chief executive officer. “Driving forces like globalization and ‘backshoring’ of industry from Asia to North America, combined with greater economic diversity, are accelerating capital investment throughout the region, and thus commercial property.

“Ultimately, the use of simulation in the Health Science programs at Valencia is critical to the student’s training, said Penny Conners, Dean of Allied Health, Valencia College. “In our cardiovascular technology program, with the aid of the Simbionix simulator, our students are able to replicate the exact procedures that they will be performing in the hospital setting. In this regard simulation helps the students to understand and put safety first for the patients so they can give the best care possible while working in their field.”
The ANGIO Mentor provides experience with basic/advanced guidewire and catheter skills, familiarity with endovascular procedures, cath lab team experience. Other skills include how to operate the C-arm, patient’s table, fluoroscopic screen, as well as how to read the hemodynamic monitoring and administer medications due to complicated treatment. The simulator offers hands-on training that is designed to enhance manual dexterity and improve appropriate instrument decision making. Students feel the high-end haptic that provide realistic simulation of guidewire, balloon, stent and other interventional devices.
“The ANGIO Mentor has been widely embraced by medical colleges in the education of surgical residents and fellows,” said Inbal Mazor, VP of Marketing for Simbionix. “Now, our portable haptic simulators and vast library of modules and cases have been embraced by community college CVT programs.”
