HONG KONG, Jan. 21, 2013/PRNewswire/ —

19th CRU World Steel Conference
Hong Kong, 4-6 March 2013

“Steel prices have de-coupled from costs, and profitability in the Chinese steel sector has risen considerably; but is this a short-term spike or have market fundamentals shifted? Europe remains in the abyss and the US position, whilst more positive, is precarious. Steel prices outside of China are firmly tied to costs and profitability is poor. Will China lead the way and what are the prospects across the globe for production, prices and profitability in 2013 and beyond?” Paul Butterworth, Research Manager, Steel Raw Materials & Steel Costs, CRU, January 2013.

SATTE 2013: A Grand Success

leave a comment »

NEW DELHI /PRNewswire/ — The 20th edition of South Asia’s leading B2B travel and tourism trade exhibition SATTE (http://www.satte.in), held from 16-18 January, 2013 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, achieved immense success and saw the presence of the who’s who of both Indian and global travel and tourism industries, including the Presidents of all the Indian tourism associations, representatives from the UNWTO and various National Tourist Offices, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of various countries as well as travel agents and tour operators from the industry. Industry leaders were unanimous that SATTE has been a great platform for the sector. The exhibition was inaugurated by Union Tourism Secretary, Parvez Dewan. “Today, the situation is that the ratio between inbound tourism into India and outbound tourism out of India is 1:2.5, and the gap is not narrowing, it is widening. SATTE has become an institution; a well founded one within India and its neighboring countries,” he said in his inaugural speech. He further added that, over the last 20 years, SATTE has been promoting India’s tourism and it has evolved as a truly global exhibition in this part of the world.
During the inauguration ceremony Alla Peressolova, Head of the Silk Road Programme and Fairs Programme, UNWTO read out a special message by Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General, UNWTO, “In the last two decades, SATTE has grown from strength to strength becoming one of the leading networking forums for the tourism sector in South Asia. With the contribution of more participants than ever before, I am confident that SATTE will maintain its reputation. I look forward to UNWTO’s continued collaboration with SATTE.” Peressolova further added, “SATTE has been always been working as a catalyst for the Indian travel and tourism sector. We have collaborated with SATTE to promote tourism in this region.” UNWTO also released their report on domestic tourism in Asia and the Pacific at SATTE, a first on an Indian platform.
Addressing the entire delegation at the inauguration Sajid Desai, Group Director, UBM India revealed, “With 590 exhibitors from 35 overseas countries and 23 Indian states; buyers from over 43 countries and 74 cities of India SATTE 2013 has seen the participation of many new countries as their launch platform to showcase their diverse tourism profile to Indian travel trade. In addition to long-time supporters, countries like USA, Bulgaria, Ethiopia and Seychelles are participating for the first time at SATTE.” SATTE 2013 witnessed hectic B2B meetings, business transactions and networking between buyers and sellers, as well as thought provoking and insightful conference sessions.
Nancy Powell, US Ambassador to India, graced the inaugural dinner of SATTE at The Ashok. Addressing the audience, Powell said that more and more Indians are travelling to the United States. This is not just because of America’s welcoming atmosphere and outstanding sights. It is also because Indians and Americans are finding more in common. “Our personal and cultural ties are increasing dramatically and trade between our two countries is following the same trajectory. Travel and tourism to the U.S. is an important way for us to expand our cultural and commercial ties and increase trade growth between our countries. But the most important aspect of travel and tourism is not the dollar figures, but the person-to-person relationships that are cultivated.”
Praising SATTE’s efforts for tourism promotion she opined that SATTE is one of the important platforms to do tourism business in India. She stated that Brand USA is participating in SATTE 2013 to promote US tourism products in India. In 2011, the United States welcomed over 660,000 visitors from India – a new record. India is now poised to leap into our top 10 sources of visitors and to cross the 1 million visitor mark by 2015.
Extending his support to the exhibition, Subhash Goyal, President, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) stated, “Over the last 20 years, SATTE has continued to promote the tourism industry massively in India. It has become an iconic show that cannot be missed by the travel and tourism fraternity. We have and will continue to look forward to a great and a successful show every year.”

HONG KONG, Jan. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — OrbusNeich today announced that it will host a symposium featuring the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent at AsiaPCR/SingLIVE 2013 entitled “A New Dimension to Stent Therapy.” The symposium will take place on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 12:15 p.m. SGT in the Grand Ballroom, Level 5, Room 3, at the Marina Bay Sands — Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore.

The event will be chaired by Dr. Aaron Wong of the National Heart Centre Singapore, and panel members will include Prof. Huay Cheem Tan of the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), Prof. Teguh Santoso of Medistra Hospital, Indonesia, and Dr. Paul Ong of Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore.

Agenda

Introduction — Dr. Aaron Wong
COMBO Dual Therapy Stent: Is there a need? — Prof. Elena Ladich
Assessing the Healing Response with OCT — Dr. William Wijns
Addressing the Unmet Needs of Balancing Bleeding & Ischemic Events? — Prof. Roxana Mehran
Take-Home Message — Dr. Aaron Wong
“With the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent, we are most excited about the possibility of achieving better outcomes with less dependence on prolonged dual antiplatelet therapy,” said Prof. Mehran of the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. “The COMBO Stent, which combines the anti-restenotic property of a drug eluting stent with a pro-healing endothelial progenitor cell capture technology, may help interventional cardiologists to better balance the risk of bleeding and ischemic events.”

Dr. William Wijns of the Cardiovascular Center, Aalst, Belgium, added, “Delayed arterial healing following the placement of a drug eluting stent remains a risk factor for major complications such as thrombotic events. The COMBO Dual Therapy Stent is designed to control neointimal growth while accelerating the natural healing process. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging technology that may help us to better understand arterial healing.”

About the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent

The COMBO Dual Therapy Stent is the first dual therapy stent to both accelerate endothelial coverage and control neo-intimal proliferation through the combination of the proven pro-healing technology with an abluminal sirolimus drug elution delivered from a biodegradable polymer that achieves full and complete dissipation by 90 days.

OrbusNeich’s patented EPC capture technology promotes the accelerated natural healing of the vessel wall after the implantation of blood-contact devices such as stents. The technology consists of an antibody surface coating that captures EPCs circulating in the blood to the device to form an endothelial layer that provides protection against thrombosis and modulates restenosis.

Barix Supports Crestron(R) Rava(TM) SIP Intercom and Phone Technology

leave a comment »

Solution delivers first interface to enable peer-to-peer device communication between Rava-enabled touch screens and analog door stations
ZURICH /PRNewswire/ — IP audio and control specialist Barix announces support of Crestron Rava™ SIP intercom and phone technology. The Barix SIP firmware will simplify integration of Rava-enabled touch screens with analog devices, such as intercom panels, to enable peer-to-peer communication between devices without a central server. This simplifies Voice over IP (VoIP) integration in residential and commercial deployments.
Crestron Rava touch screens leverage SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to permit voice intercom, telephone and paging among other applications across the home, office or small business. The inclusion of Barix firmware uniquely establishes compatibility between Rava-enabled touch screens and analog door stations. This allows customers to continue to use existing analog installed devices when upgrading to Rava touch screens, providing seamless IP to analog integration.
Systems integrators, meanwhile, eliminate the time and labor associated with configuring servers to enable SIP compatibility between Rava touch screens and connected devices. Barix firmware allows these devices to discover each other on the network, becoming the first Crestron-approved solution to offer such seamless peer-to-peer device connectivity.
“We’re thrilled to have Barix support our protocol because it bridges the gap between digital (SIP communication points) and analog door stations,” said Fred Bargetzi, Crestron VP of Technology. “We see many homes with independent door station/intercom systems separate from the home automation system or homes with integrated page-all intercom systems when discrete peer-to-peer operation is more desirable. With support of the Rava protocol, Barix now provides a retrofit solution that seamlessly communicates with the homeowner’s existing door station.”
The Barix solution can be deployed today by connecting a Barix Annuncicom IP two-way audio hardware device directly to a door station. Crestron is also working with companies such as eHolovision, which manufactures a series of intercom entry panels for door stations. Barix will soon add the same functionality to these and other third-party panels equipped with Barix IPAM Series modules. This enables peer-to-peer SIP and Rava compatibility without additional hardware.
“This solution evolves our relationship with Crestron, using Barix’s strong IP audio and control expertise to develop a unique solution that reduces infrastructure, simplifies installation and enhances communication across Rava environments,” said Johannes G. Rietschel, CEO and founder of Barix AG.
