Bulk buyers in the region like The McDonald’s, Cathay Pacific Catering, The Garden teams are already committed to come.

The foremost Bakery Event will be staging in Hong Kong from 5 – 7 December!
“Asian countries, specifically mainland China, Hong Kong and Malaysia are considered as the boomers on the forthcoming global sales growth as the dietary habit and the culture is way more westernized in recent decade. The event will be a long-term project tailored to the industry annually to agglomerate market suppliers from upstream to downstream including productions facilities, ingredients, tools, packaging, cold storage and end products. Prime Source Forum (PSF) Goes Further into Asia

leave a comment »

HONG KONG, Oct. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Prime Source Forum (PSF) – Focus on ASEAN will make its debut in Jakarta, Indonesia on 30 January 2013, bringing the established PSF brand, which has seen 7 successful editions in Hong Kong and the first PSF satellite event in Delhi held last September.

PSF is the annual forum for the global fashion industry. Since 2006, it has been held annually in March in Hong Kong, bringing together more than 400 senior executives from all over the world to discuss the challenges and opportunities that manufacturers, suppliers and retailers face, particularly those pertaining to the supply chain.

Michael Duck, Executive Vice President of UBM Asia Ltd and Director of APLF Ltd said, “ASEAN is home to a burgeoning population of 600 million people, which is equivalent to 9% of the world’s population. As a single economic bloc, it’s combined nominal GDP of USD 2 trillion ranks 9th in the world. We should definitely not underestimate this fast growing region.”

“There is no better platform than PSF – Focus on ASEAN to promote the region, its economies and the sourcing activities of its textile and apparel industries to the world,” stated Ade Sudradjat, Chairman of the Indonesia Textile Association (API) and the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX). Both associations have already confirmed their support of PSF – Focus on ASEAN.

The ASEAN textile and apparel industry is building on its already robust exports of apparel to major markets, proactively integrating upstream to downstream elements of the supply chain in order to create a more vertical sourcing platform. This is according to Michael J. Blakeley, Director of the VALUE Project which is funded by the U.S. government and supports integration of key ASEAN industries. “Global brands and retailers are certainly seeking more competitive arrangements with their vendors in ASEAN and the local industry is attempting to respond,” Blakeley said.

“Existing trade arrangements with growing markets like China create additional competitive reasons to produce apparel in ASEAN. Trade preferences with the EU have allowed industries in Cambodia and Laos to grow and increase capabilities. Future trade preferences currently being discussed or negotiated could also lead to interesting opportunities for apparel produced in ASEAN,” emphasised Blakeley.

He added, “Once the ASEAN Economic Community comes into effect in 2015 and ASEAN operates as a single production base, the region will surely be more efficient and cost effective with dramatic improvements in trade facilitation.”

Michael Duck added, “Promoting the region’s textile and apparel industries to international brands and retailers can definitely strengthen the importance of these manufacturing sectors to the development of the ASEAN economies. With our past experience in organising PSF in Hong Kong and the local support from our office in Jakarta, we are confident about bringing an outstanding event to the ASEAN textile and fashion industries and their key players, providing them with plenty of networking and business opportunities.”

PSF – Focus on ASEAN will cover a few other topical issues, including development forecasts on the fashion industry, difficulties encountered by ASEAN manufacturers and the establishment of an effective supply chain alliance between countries in the region.

Apart from its satellite events, PSF, on its 8th edition, will take place as usual in Hong Kong from March 26 to 27, 2013. Delegates from all over the world are expected to attend this two-day event for the global fashion industry.

Show Report: http://www.hijapan.info/eng/past_report/past_report.html
TOKYO /PRNewswire/ — Hi/S-tec Japan 2012 was held in Tokyo from 3-5 October 2012. As Asia’s largest ingredients trade show for functional and health ingredients, the 2012 show had 540 exhibitors with 830 booths and more than 380 exhibitor presentations. Furthermore, a total of 36 high profile conferences were held in conjunction with the exhibition, focusing on the latest trends in the Japanese food market and product research and development.
Heightened awareness of health issues among Japanese consumers and receptiveness to innovative products and health concepts means that Japan is at the forefront of the development and commercialisation of health foods, nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, supplements, natural and organic foods. High purchasing power, an aging population, and keen consumer awareness of health products is now creating perfect conditions for the manufacturers and suppliers of healthy processed foods in Japan. What’s more, people’s demand for beauty on the inside is also markedly growing. As a result, the 2012 show attracted more attention than ever.
Japan’s demand for ingredients from abroad is getting stronger as Japanese companies continually expand their lists of health-related products. Hi/S-tec Japan is now established as a global event with strong international participation. The 2012 show featured exhibitors from 16 countries and visitors from 30 countries. In addition to four country/region pavilions from the USA, Canada, South Korea and Taiwan, there were several international exhibitors from Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain, Finland, Norway, New Zealand, India, Chile and countries from West Africa. When it comes to international visitors, not only nearby Asian countries such as South Korea, China, Thailand and Malaysia were present but also countries from Oceania, North America and Europe came to the 2012 show, and the number of representative countries came out to 30, the highest since Hi/S-tec Japan started 23 years ago.
Next year the show will be held from 9-11 October 2013. Marking our 24th anniversary, this show is expected to be larger and more international. Information for next year’s show is below:

GLOBAL ENTREPOLIS @ SINGAPORE 2012 Summit to Propel Fresh Ideas, Business Exchanges Amid Current Economic Uncertainties

leave a comment »

Themed “Capitalising on Fast Changing Markets”, experts will share insights into 2013 economic outlook and “game changing” global trends

SINGAPORE, Oct. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Global Entrepolis @ Singapore (GES) Business Leaders Summit 2012 will get underway next week (22nd – 25th October), bringing together policy makers from Asia, leaders from the world’s top management consulting firms and some of the top decision makers in business.

This ninth annual event, aptly themed “Capitalising on Fast Changing Markets“, takes place at a time when government and business leaders as well as non-government experts are dealing with the challenges of a highly dynamic and volatile economic environment. This year’s event will take place at Resorts World Convention Centre in Singapore.

Presented by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), the republic’s apex chamber, GES 2012 aims to catalyse the growing importance of Singapore as a gateway for the exchange of ideas and business-to-business facilitation. This year’s forum will take a highly focused approach by concentrating on the challenges and opportunities ahead in 2013, the rapid rise in emerging markets like Indonesia and Myanmar, and how sustainable ideas and solutions can be transformed into business opportunities.

Heading the list of political leaders include Guest-Of-Honour Singapore Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Malaysia Minister of International Trade and Industry HE Dato’ Sri Mustapa Bin Mohamed and Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore Pavlo Sultanskyi. Former Korea Prime Minister and current Korea International Trade Association Chairman Dr Han Duck-Soo will also be speaking at the event.

The summit will be attended by more than 600 influential senior business executives, entrepreneurs, high net-worth individuals, founders and policy makers this year.

“As the Federation celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, it is moving to be a more issue-centric organisation. GES is one of SBF’s signature platforms in this strategic direction. The SBF has also increased its offerings with the inclusion of focused business forums and master classes. These key topics cover human capital, sustainability, franchising, supply chain leadership, and SME issues, in the context of increasing economic global volatility,” said Mr Tony Chew, Chairman of Singapore Business Federation.

ANZ Bank, which has a banking network across 28 markets in the Asia Pacific, is supporting GES as it sees a rapid growth in trade, capital and people flows in this region, said Singapore CEO Vishnu Shahaney. “We recognise that the pulse of commerce is sustained through cross-border exchange of ideas and insight. In our view, Global Entrepolis @ Singapore is an important working platform that contributes to this fresh interaction of ideas and solutions.”

Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), an investment promotion agency from UAE’s Sharjah Emirate, will be another key participant at GES 2012, using it as a key platform to promote links between both regions. “Shurooq has been actively pursuing stronger business ties with various companies, entities, governments, and organisations in the East and in this regard Singapore — with its wealth of business experience and sound fundamentals — is an excellent match for the Authority’s aims,” said CEO H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal.

“Shurooq’s goal is to develop Sharjah’s considerable investment potential and providing facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in Sharjah is one of its key functions, which is why GES 2012 is such a valuable platform,” he added. Shurooq is keen to promote investment and development sectors in the areas of travel & tourism, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, transport & logistics, and environment in Sharjah.

The summit will also explore opportunities in the infrastructure investments in Asia, present an update of the regional markets, and spotlight hot sectors and projects in emerging economies such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

In addition, GES 2012 offers several programmes including the ‘SBF SME Convention 2012’, ‘APAC Sustainability Leadership Forum’, ‘Growth Through Franchising Forum’, ‘Supply Chain Leadership Forum’ and ‘Selection, Development and Retention of Your Highly Talented People Forum’.

More than 50 international speakers will provide insights on global trends and regional markets.
