Fluke Networks OptiView(R) XG v8 Optimized to Speed Troubleshooting in Virtualized Data Centers

leave a comment »

New upgrade provides faster issue isolation and resolution in both traditional and virtualized environments

EVERETT, Wash., May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — Fluke Networks today announced a new version of its OptiView XG portable network analysis tablet, available now, focused on providing increased visibility into both traditional and virtualized data centers in order to rapidly identify issues and their root cause.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120523/AQ11053LOGO-a)
(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120523/AQ11053-b)

Virtualization has revolutionized data center efficiency, but it has simultaneously made it more difficult for network engineers to physically trace information pathways, identify device locations and troubleshoot network and application issues. With server virtualization expected to nearly double, claiming 75 percent of all data center machines in the next three years according to Gartner, Inc.,(1) network engineers need a quick, easy portable solution that lets them drill down, isolate a problem and see what is really happening within these complex virtualized environments.

New troubleshooting capabilities in OptiView XG allow customers to resolve issues in minutes, instead of having to use multiple tools and dedicating multiple hours for problem resolution. In addition to these enhanced troubleshooting capabilities, the OptiView XG tablet has also been upgraded to be compatible with high-availability data center technologies and protocols, including the Cisco Nexus Series switches, Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and link aggregation.

“OptiView XG is already the fastest way to see root cause in wired and wireless networks,(2) and the next-generation features are focused on meeting the needs of our customers in the heart of their network – the data center – in a way that provides a rapidly deployable, cost-effective, portable solution,” said Gary Ger, vice president and a general manager at Fluke Networks.

Two new troubleshooting features of the OptiView XG v8 are responsible for its ability to rapidly identify data paths and isolate problems within physical and virtual networks: the 1-Click NetTest and Automated Multi-Segment Analysis. With a single button push, the 1-Click NetTest finds the connection path in a single screen view.

Once the analysis is complete, engineers can provide a consolidated summary report which indicates whether the problem is with the network or the server, and is ideal for providing evidence to other stakeholders. If it is not a network problem and a more detailed application analysis is required, engineers can now use the new Automated Multi-Segment Analysis feature with another OptiView XG to capture and merge trace files from multiple segments to find where loss and latency are occurring.

“Continual technology advances like virtualization benefit all of us by providing greater speed, flexibility and capacity, but these advances also create new places for problems to hide,” Ger said.

For more information about uncovering those hidden network problems, please visit Fluke Networks.

About Fluke Networks Fluke Networks is the world-leading provider of network test and monitoring solutions to speed the deployment and improve the performance of networks and applications. Leading enterprises and service providers trust Fluke Networks’ products and expertise to help solve today’s toughest issues and emerging challenges in WLAN security, mobility, unified communications and datacenters. Based in Everett, Wash., the company distributes products in more than 50 countries. For more information, visit http://www.FlukeNetworks.com or call +1 (425) 446-4519.

(2) Fastest root cause analysis of network and application problems claim based on current industry practices and tools, which do not allow troubleshooting both at the desk and in the field for both wired and wireless networks.

86% Say no to ‘Dial High Club’: Travellers Against Phones on Planes Reveals Skyscanner

leave a comment »

SINGAPORE, May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — A large majority of travellers would rather mobile phone use were not permitted on planes, a new survey from flight comparison site Skyscanner( http://www.skyscanner.com ) has revealed.

A surprisingly high proportion of people, 86%, said it would be “annoying to have to listen to other people’s conversations.” Only 1% of respondents said they would pay more to fly with an airline that offered mobile calls.

The overwhelming result comes just after Virgin Atlantic announced it would be the first British airline to allow mobile phone calls during flights on its London to New York route. Calls made in-flight will cost GBP1 a minute and sending a text will be 20 pence, significantly more than when on terra firma, meaning that business users are likely to be the primary market for the new facility, at least to begin with.

Sam Baldwin, Skyscanner Travel Editor commented: “In a world where we are now almost always ‘on call’, it seems people don’t want to say good-bye to their last sanctuary of non-connectivity. Flying allows us to switch off for a few hours, both from our own calls, and other people’s.

“However, Virgin’s move into onboard mobile is the beginning of the end of the no-phone zone. I think it’s inevitable that within a few years, making mobile calls at 30,000 feet will be commonplace on all airlines.”

Even though many people welcome improvements in general internet connectivity allowing them to jump online in more and more places around the world, there appears to be a markedly different attitude when it comes to mobile phone conversations in confined spaces.

If mobile use were available onboard, 48% said they would send texts, 35% said they would surf the web, 10% would send email, while only 6% would actually make and take calls.

About Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a leading travel search site providing instant online comparisons for millions of flights on over a thousand airlines, as well as hotels and car hire.

RLC Seeking Companies for Acquisition in Brazil

leave a comment »

SAO PAULO, May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — Ricardo Lei Consultoria – RLC, a company that has been working in Mergers and Acquisitions for thirty years, believes that in the current international economic situation, Brazil is the second market of preference in the world for Strategic Companies or Global Private Equity Funds that are seeking companies for new acquisitions in various different areas such as: Food and Beverages, Wholesale, Beauty, Capital Goods, Education, Construction, Logistics and Transportation, Chemistry, Miscellaneous Services, Information Technology, Retail and Apparel.

According to Brazilian government forecasts, Brazil should grow between 4% to 5% in 2012. The country’s strong points for “confronting” 2012 are represented by its international reserves, measures to stimulate growth through monetary policy, tax reduction and various measures for internal administrative improvements, in addition to the positive effect of the increase in the minimum wage.

Recently, Brazil officially became the sixth largest economy in the world, as confirmed by the Center for Economic and Business Research (CEBR – Centro de Pesquisa Economica e Empresarial), with total GDP of R$ 4.143 trillion (US$ 2.469 trillion) in 2011.

It is noteworthy that Brazil today is experiencing a great moment in contrast to what is going on in the global economy, particularly the countries of the EURO zone. Moreover, with its large population that sustains intense domestic consumption, vast natural resources and increasingly strong industry, it is most certainly a country that is destined to keep growing.

Today, Ricardo Lei Consultoria – RLC is in a position to present a variety of opportunities for acquisitions of companies and investments in Brazil, considering that in 2011 these companies had EBITDA assessed at between US$ 3 to 30 million, and in some cases they are market leaders, while there are also some opportunities that have been identified whose EBITDA is in an even higher bracket.
